yes, it allowed the mod community coders to get a great working version of duke 3d on windows xp. they're even adding full polygon models and redoing the textures to hi res textures.

i've played it with hi res and 3d polygon enemies. it's like a whole new game but totally keeps the fun and feel!

the jonf port is the best.

be advised: you need duke3d atomic edition(basically it's the fully patched version of duke 3d with a couple new levels also) to make the port work.

also, i'd suggest reading this forum and getting caught up with everything they're doing. there's a ton of great work being done and they even have multiplayer up and running!
