3rd party manufactuers cheaped out on RTX3080 filter caps, stability of cards affected.

So here it can be seen, that to lower MSRP (or probably just BOM) manufactuers cheapen out of filtering caps, which makes card more prone to crashes. nVidia FE are fine in this reagard.

Man am I glad I decided to not get a 3080. Not that I could have gotten one if I wanted to.

Yeah, this video is bad news for those who bought an EVGA card. EVGA is a brand I love, so this gives me pause for buying a card

Umm actually it was not exactly EVGA which cheapen out the most, it's still better 50% from those two other cards. ASUS TUF seems to be great in this sense, tho.

lmao. i came here to post this. how do you even cheap out on a $700 card? and the fact that every AIB did it. all of them went with either the 6 cheap ones or 5.

Absolutely shocking and i hope they have a lawsuit coming their way.

nvidia is fucked if they had the cheap ones in the reference designs because then they are liable and not the AIBs.

Fuck I bought an evga rtx3090 ftw3 hope there not effected.

evga 3080 is only using one instead of two. which will still cause issues. do not open it when you do receive it and wait to see how its built. they are pushing power well beyond the 3080 so that thing should have three of those expensive arrays, not just two.

Does MSI also suffer from this? I always buy their cards (miss that lightning tier).
Because evga is so hard (and expensive) to buy in my country on europe

man thats some shit... feel bad for those affected, id be crying in rage.
I feel horrible for those scalpers.

I'm glad I canceled my Ventus. I'w wait for 3070ti or RDNA2. 2060S is still fine for my res (2560x1080).

Edit: At least you can now see this shit capacitors LOL

Overreact much? No, every AIB did not do it. Please research the facts before saying something like that.

Also lmao at lawsuits. This can be fixed with a bios or driver update. Did you even watch the video?

By the time they roll out the 20GB 3080(ti) all these issues will be ironed out.

There is always this risk when you rush to buy the very first batch that rolls out ( of anything ). It always has way more lemons than if you just would have waited a month or two.

i did. All the AIB gpus he showed were using the cheap parts.

And he also likened it to the 970 3.5 gb fiasco which I'm pretty sure resulted in a lawsuit.

The bios updates will only downclock the cards so people who bought the cards based on benchmarks will no longer get that performance. He mentioned how nvidia only advertised 1.71 ghz clocks but the GPU averages over 2.0 ghz. That's 15% of performance gone. That's huge.

This is why I always try to go with FE. I'd rather have a marginally less powerful card than deal with all this fuckery.

Asus seems to be the card to go for.

That said, as much as I want to upgrade to 3080, i'll be waiting for 20gb for that better future proofed performance.

Zotac ftw. Thought I had to be getting expensive brands like msi and gigabyte but nope, my 1080 from zotac has been golden, I'll be buying them from now on. And it was a "mini" model with simple dual (quiet) fans yet without any cuts in performance, clocks (it even was factory OC a bit), etc., like other minis do yet still cheaper.

Yep. same. I was considered trying to get one once the initial rush died down, but I knew they were going to sell out and plus realized that I would want a bit more memory after hearing rumors of a 20GB version coming.

Heck, I may even consider a 3070 Ti 16GB if that rumor ends up being true and the performance is at least equal to my 2080 Ti. HDMI 2.1 alone is worth it to me since I can unlock full 4K/ 120 10-bit RGB on my LG OLED.

RIP to Zotac owners.

Gigabyte, MSI and EVGA also seem quite bad.

Only Asus seemed to get it right.

Why did Nvidia give them so much freedom with these parts?

Yeah well, wonder how much that TUF is going to cost...

There were also a bunch of issues with the early AIB 20XX series cards as well, the VRAM kept going to shit. Was completely ironed out by the time the Super series arrived.

It's one of the cheapest ones on the Newegg International store. Asus did good here, its a shame their warranty policy for international customers is shit.

Even if you get an EVGA card you should be sitting comfortably because if it breaks EVGA have the best warranty service going in this industry.

UMMMM, isn't Zotac called here as another brand suffering from this issue?

Looks like

Asus = 6 MLCC = :messenger_sunglasses::messenger_ok:

FE and EVGA FTW = 2 MLCC + 4 SP CAPS = :messenger_neutral:

MSI and EVGA XC3 = 1 MLCC + 5 SP CAPS = 🤡

Zotac and Gigabyte = 6 POSCAPS = 🤡 🤡

That's like FE, so fine : )

If that's a stock photo it's not representative of what customers are receiving unfortunately.. Some people are even reporting having different configurations to what's pictured and even different ones to what the reviewers received.

It's a bit of a lottery at the moment with certain AIB's:

Unbelievable. The RTX 30 Series is a disaster. Bring on the revamps.

Leaving that door wide open for AMD. Let's see if they can do anything.

Ohh so Samsung, Micron memories round 2, great...

I hope all the scalpers sitting there with AIB cards stacked up in their living rooms are now sweating and can't shift them.

Get fucked.

Between them getting messed with on eBay with ridiculous bids and now this? Perfection. I despise scalpers as much as I do gaming fanboys.

Yep it's a lottery at the moment.

Even inconsistencies with the EVGA cards which I didn't expect.

Godspeed to those who already have one if these cards or have one on the way.

Why not just wait a couple of months to see what's going to on? Why mostly people who already have good cards decide to jump in so fast? Buying anything at launch is risky for pretty much any kind of electronic device nowadays.

If you wait you'll have safer options, possibly better prices and a less stressful life. It's so fucking easy.
