Aww man, I remember umming and ahhing, proper soul searching for ages I was, over whether to chance getting a 4070 ti Super, so late as it was into the 4000 gen.

Never felt so vindicated.

BTW I found it interesting Jayztwocents doesn't remember a card release with such screwed up availability as this shit show. Guess he doesn't remember the AMD 6000 series release since that was so long ago, IE late 2020. (Let's hope they don't screw up this release but why do I think they're up for the challenge?)

Trust me, this is peak covid levels of fucked up availability.

What surprises me is how ray tracing hasn't improved at all.

I'd understand the lacklustre improvement in raster if raytracing got a big enough bump like previous gens, but all this 5000 series seem to have is improved AI. No doubt Nvidia will be saying this got some '4th gen' RT cores tho

What a joke.
I was expecting this to double the performance of my 3080 + unlock the cripling 10gb of vram... it only does the vram part.
It's barely any faster otherwise and it's way more expensive. Would be too expensive even at msrp
edit: Calm down. It's faster than 3080. I see it. But not for a 1000$. Not for 2 generations/5 years later. Not enough

this is around a RTX 4080 level which is ~1.7 the performance of a 3080.....

So "barely faster" is

1.7?
It's maxing at around 45-50% faster compared to my 3080 10gb version and that is in 4k limited vram scenarios.
Otherwise it's around 30% faster.

yes. I call that BARELY FASTER over 2 generations of graphics cards at the same price... or in fact for a thosuand $ compared to 700$ I paid for 3080

This is the worst generation of GPUs in a long time, and a total disaster for the PC market. It's getting more and more difficult to recommend building a PC to people unless all they want to play is DOTA or Overwatch or something.

your numbers are factually false as xy benchmark comparisons show....

besides that I get it, that`s another rofif definition thing, just like Forspoken is a "great" game.

What do you mean? gtfo with your 1.7 outlier lol.
Forspoken? Cheap fucking blow man. Learn what a good game is maybe
This is just a reskinned 4080 which already was barely worth it over 3080. It's not a good upgrade for me. Not for this price.
I would get this for 500$. Just to have more vram. But not 1k

Isn't it time Digital Foundry stopped trying to put a positive spin on these GPU reviews? "If you can get one at MSRP".

You can't, Rich. Bless you, but stop.

no one is arguing that this is shit value for the money, but your usual completely arbitrary definitions are just.....
what definitions?
Get of my back. Fucking hell why do I always have to deal with it.
Everyone is saying it's shit - FINE.
I say it's shit - lol forspoken guy lololol he hates pc gaming.
fuck off

oh yeah because other people never fucking exaggerate. cmon man

It's weird. In raster, it performs about the same as a 4080, but in raytracing, it's significantly slower.
In general, it's about 35-45 percent faster than my 3080. Not worth an upgrade in my opinion.

Remember when they told us this would perform like a 4090?

Remember when 4090 owners were told RIP?

Remember when 4090 owners were told to rush to sell their cards in anticipation of this launch because they would be "worthless" shortly after?

I remember.

I was offered a kfa2 geforce rtx 4090 sg 1-click oc for 1500€…. Shall I buy it?
Snl GIF by Saturday Night Live

No used 4080 is worth more than 700-800$. that 1 click oc will be 1% faster than stock....

edit: YIKES< you said 4090 not 80... ok then, maybe

it hurts to say it, but it`s probably not the worst value for the money in this shithow of a situation. I´d not buy a card without any warranty though.

Still expensive for a video card. I got my 4090 for around £1500 brand new. It comes down to how much income you have. Also depends on your CPU and your monitor.
4090 is still one of the best cards you can get and has a lot of video memory.

Oh I don't doubt that. Sorry about not being clear about that. It's just the idea that he doesn't remember how bad the AMD 6000 series was for availability. (It was only 4 years ago and that was another paper launch.)

I don't think "vindicated" means what you think it means.

Unless of course you actually bought one.
