6 launch titles announced for PS3?

The games don't have official release dates and they are marked as working titles, but the list does shed some light on which first-party titles we might see here when the system is launched sometime in 2006.
...umm yeah.

No way will a new Gran Turismo be ready for launch.

Really? If it follows in the footsteps of the last few GTs, it seems like a new Gran Turismo would be an optimal launch title. It's popular (in Japan and America), a racer (which means relatively small development time and the ability to easily showcase graphics), and could basically be the PS3 equivalent of Project Gotham Racing 3. Why couldn't it be ready for launch, especially if it was started some time ago?

Well Kaz has said he expects to have it finished next year, so that's one reason. The other is that one time there was a GT2000 scheduled for the PS2 launch, but and changed into GT3 and came out a year after the PS2. Would it be a good launch title? Sure, but it's going to take them a long time to finish it given all they're adding to it.

Not in GT's case. It's like waiting for the next ice-age.

GT3 was delayed a few months.

GT4 was delayed over a year.

GT Portable has yet to show it's face, despite Polyphony promising to show it over a year ago.

Based on that pattern, we'll be lucky to see anything from GT5 before the end of 2007.
