enh, don't laugh too much. they sold over a million of 'em at $40. it's not like it bombed or something... just probably overstocked because they ordered FFXish amounts of them and some people had the sense not to buy it. ZING

Anyone who doesn't get Downhill Domination at that price is a damn fool!

It rules for arcadey and fun downhill mountain biking action.

FFX-2 is a waste of a perfectly good DVD. I wouldn't give it another shot if they paid me the 9.99 to do so.

Did Alias turn out? It looked interesting in previews, but I know nothing about it.

I played it briefly..... meh. It wants to be a combination stealth game and buffy-like just kick ass game...it accomplishes neither.

FFX-2 worth it?

It's not your typical RPG. It's got an open structure where you're jumping around Spira taking missions of your choice practically from the start of the game, which might not appeal to you if you're looking for a traditional, linear RPG story. (There is an overarching plot, but it doesn't really start coming together until you're maybe 1/3 of the way into the game.) If you're a fan of FF X, I'd say it's worth the $10 to see how the world's changed since the end of the last game and what your favorite characters are up to now. If you haven't played X or didn't like it, I'd say to pass on X-2. And even if you did enjoy FF X, if you're allergic to jpop tunes and/or mild fanservice (I swear, some of the guys who post here never outgrew the 'girls are icky' mindset, to hear them talk), then save your money and put it towards something you're more likely to enjoy.

Anyone saying FFX-2 isn't worth $10 is a fool. It's not a great game by any means, but christ... it's $10. The game isn't nearly that bad.

if you're saying someone who enjoyed ff x can't voice his dislike for the shitfest that is ff x-2, you're messed. ff x-2 has problems that extend far beyond 'pointless fan service.'

Speaking as a man who likes really odd RPGS(Persona 1/2, Tales games and the likes) I truly enjoyed FF X-2. The world, the job system, the fast paced battle systems were all fun. I haven't looked back since getting the game and have beat it twice already.

What can I say, I'm a fan:)

not sure what that has to do with anything -- i love tales and persona, and FFX for that matter. i thought FFX-2 was pretty pooptacular.

Quick question:

Every time I've ever seen a sale on EBGames.com, it's always been reflected in-store. Anybody know if these are also good in-store?

That was pretty much put up there before I got the standard Square whore label for liking FF X-2.:) To be fair I actually liked it more than the first one, but that's mainly because I HATED the Sphere Grid, thought the job system was superior.

Has it been a month since that ToysRus sale? Anyway I already opened the game and put it on the HDLoader :p

No, I'm not saying that at all, though as far as the game being a 'shitfest', I think that's a little (no, excuse me, a lot) overblown. My point was that if you enjoyed the first game for the characters and setting, $10 for what's essentially an epilogue/'where are they now' piece is money well spent, but if the points I mentioned annoy you, then you might want to give it a pass even if you did like the characters.

As far as the parenthetical remark goes, I'm just sick of seeing people here bitch about any game where the female characters are presented as attractive or sexy. Listening to some of the people complain about the fanservice in FF X-2, for example, you'd think the developers were peddling hardcore CG porn on a disc. :p I think it's the people who act so offended over 'gratuitous fanservice' like seeing Yuna in hotpants (*gasp!* Unthinkable!) that are 'messed', not me, thanks.

I bailed on FFX after seven hours due to the linearity (in character and game progression) and Tidus's presence. FFX-2 fixed both of those issues :)D) and ended up being really enjoyable for me. The job system was a lot of fun, the nonlinearity is just what I'd wanted out of FFX, the story was silly fun fluff that fulfilled its role, and Paine rocked. The gameplay was what I enjoyed most about it, though: it brought the fun back to FF for me after two games that failed in that area. I'm planning to have a second run at it sometime...there's still plenty more to do (delusional 'perfect' ending be damned!).

I got FFX-2 ;last time Gamestop had the buy 2 used get one free deal and a lot of credit. I've been iffy to play it since I didn't finish FFx...and will never I tired I just really hate that game.

So if someone who hated FFx liek the quirky ness of FFX-2?

What the hell? After playing countless action-adventure titles like Devil May Cry, Chaos Legion and others that game was such a breath of fresh air! Can you please detail your hate in a report form that I can purchase on the bookstore shevles?

Since I assume that's a dig at my earlier post, I'll bite. (And if it's not, I'll bite anyway.)

The problem is that the majority of people here go overboard when they describe how good or bad a game supposedly is. Everything's played up for effect--it's all either 'OMG GOTY!' or 'WORST GAME EVAR!!!11!' I never said people need to write an essay on why they don't like a given title, just that they ought to quit with the bullshit exaggerations every time somebody mentions a game they don't like. :p

okay, i'll give -- for $10, ff x-2 is probably worth picking up for those particularly interested in the worlds and events of ff x. however, ff x-2 is still a pretty poor follow-up. mostly because ff x wrapped its story up very nicely.

If it's anything like EBgames past deals, it'll be $9.99 again on and off
given that FFX-2 is undoubtedly headed for GH-dom, i'm sure it'll stabilize at $20 sooner or later.

I do have to agree here. The Calmlands games were exquisite torture that I decided to avoid entirely. And the thunder plains? *shudder* Sphere Break is fun, though I'm not quick enough with figures to do well at high-level play.

The other 3 are still working at $9.99, but FFX2 generates that error.
