Okay, so today I'm eating lunch at Borders (Redmond Town Center) with the crew before we go out campaign canvassing (a horrible, tedious, soul-sucking job that involves begging people door-to-door for money). So I'm sitting at the table with about 10 other people, and I want to check out the WiFi there at the cafe. I whip out the PSP but the battery's dead. No biggie. I put it back in my bag and head out the door for a smoke a few minutes later. Soon after that, it's time to roll and everyone's heading out. I run back in, collect my bag and leave for the cars with everyone else. I don't even notice it was missing until just now.
And now we hear the news that we can downgrade to 1.5. I had a one gig stick in the handheld as well as a copy of Lumines. Also, today was my last day. Just fucking DANDY.
Now, I remember seeing a boxed salad on top of my bag and asked around about it at the parking lot, it belonged to a girl I work with. I doubt she had anything to do with it, but I'm willing to bet it was one of three people who are bit on the grungy side and saw me tooling around with it.
Tomorrow I'm going to call Borders and ask if anyone happened to find one lying around, and I'm also going to let my bosses know that it's missing. It's got a couple of tell-tale signs - I ended up getting the thing wet, and neither the brightness or the tone function buttons work. There's also a weird issue where pressing the Menu button will mute and un-mute the sound. I'm going to ask that they check any black PSPs that happen to appear in the office for those unique features.
Barring that, is there any sort of digital signature that would allow me or Sony to track where the PSP might be accessing the web? I don't know a terrific amount about wireless networking, but it seems like this might be a possibility.
Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks.
