A DS SP with filtering ? (question)

Could Nintendo release a "DS SP" which features filtering to all DS games like the PS2 did with PSOne Games ? Would that be possible ?

The PS2 filters textures so they aren't pixelated...however, most are still low res and it shows. Exactly what would be filtered in most non-3D GBA games?

(I'd also add that the DS doesn't even support texture filtering for its own games!)

Yeah but it could increase the quality of the graphics on the DS imo

Nothing why ?

Isn't that obvious ?

GBA games already looks tons better on DS than the GBA SP

I was playing Minish Cap at work today, and after the battery ran out on me I switched to the DS and I was like "wtf was I doing playing on the SP .."

DS SP - maybe, filtering - no. They won't change how the processor actually interprets the games, just form factor/functionality/price of the system.

I'm wondering exactly what processes you want the system to perform in order to make the games look better. Are we talking texture filtering, software rendering such as Super Eagle and 2xSai, or hardware rending such as Linear, Anisotropic, Gaussian Cubic, ect...?

If its any of those, it won't make a difference on such a small screen. Did you have something else in mind?

That would be a form of software rendering then...but I would doubt any improvement could be seen on such a small screen unfortuently. I don't know enough about it to say whether or not its something that could have been done just by tweaking the current processor that handles GBA games, or if it would have to take advantage of the additional processor. Super Eagle is something to behold though on any 2D game. Its mostly done in emulators, and even then you really need good eyes to tell the difference.

Even with filtering, i wonder just how much better it would look at the DS's low resolution.

Yea, the low resolution isn't even a problem. GBA games run at a comparable (but not equivalent) resolution to Super Nintendo games...and you can tell the difference when software rendering is used to enhance them. The biggest problem is the actual screen size.
