a question about calling the police....

If my wife, whom I kicked out 6 months ago for being a drunk drug addict, shows up at my office.................can I call the cops?

To make it a short story, I kicked her out because of blah blah drunk every day blah blah hates my daughter blah blah needs serious medication (i'm so sick of telling this story). I don't want her to know where I work or where I live because I'm really scared for my safety.

Well, apparently she found out my work number because she just called me. She told me "you won't see me today, tomorrow or the next day, but it won't be long before I show up on your doorstep. I'll come to your home and your office if you don't agree to meet me."

i'm scared shitless. Can I call the cops if she actually shows?

Call the cops if she shows up.

Fuck it, call the cops NOW, dude! You have proof that she's threatening you and potentially putting both you and your daughter at risk.

Also, you guys are assholes.

i can't get a restraining order unfortunately. There has to be a number of documented incidents before the courts will award you one. And the incidents between us were never documented.

Mostly because when I threatened to call the police she would start hitting herself and told me she would tell the cops I beat her.

Usually, "Call the Police" is context-sensitive. The "Call Police" prompt should come right up.

you should have call the cops and told them she hit herself?

unless they are keystone coppers, they can investigate and see the woulds were self inflicted.

They would investigate it all right. What conclusions they would make would be anyone's guess.

Notify your job and the authorities first. You should probably invest in a tazer or some mace. No telling when she's going to come by all drugged out and feeling stabby.

I knew someone who went to jail for pushing away a woman who was trying to stab him to death, so yeah...
EDIT: He didn't get sentenced to additional time, but still.

Just use restraining order. It's Super Effective.

Seriously though, even if she said she'd tell them you hit her, isnt there a way to tell if physical damage is self inflicted? I'm sure there would be a difference in the type of bruises or whatever is left from the damage depending on the type of infliction.

I talked to a detective years ago about just that. They look for tell-tale signs like bruised knuckles or scratched skin on the guy. If the guy doesn't have a scratch on him, her story (could) be made up.

LIES.
Judges issue temporary restraining orders all the time.
(For women, against men.)

Since you're a man, call the cops now, tell them you fear for your and your daughter's safety, document everything, tell your employer to watch out for this crazy bitch (insert photo here), and I'd suggest investing in a decent video camera.

NO.
Just about every police department is trained to arrest the man, no matter what.
Hell, many states / cities have "shall arrest" laws which mean the man, and not the woman, HAS to be arrested, NO MATTER WHAT.

Maybe if she kills you in front of the police they'll arrest her, but your corpse will be convicted while she gets sympathy for being a victim.

If she's hitting herself you need to get a video camera and witnesses.
If she's hitting you you need to get a video camera and witnesses.
If she's threatening you you need to get a video camera and witnesses.

Don't listen to this idiot, police are not trained to be bias against men.

Speak to your employer about the threat, your employer should take action to protect his employee and the workplace by getting her banned from entering and the cops called immediately if she shows up there.

If your boss is nice, they will probally give some advice about contacting the polce.
