A Question to PS3 early adopters...

DISCLAIMER: I am not a fanboy of any console. I am a hardcore game fan, meaning I have love games. Not hardware manufacturers.

Hello all, I've had some questions concerning buying a PS3 right at launch and from the sounds of many threads here there will be a lot of early adopters. My question is WHY!??!

Me personally? I won't. I'll wait for a generation of hardware (or two) to go buy before I ever buy another Sony Game Console, and here's why. I got a PS1 at launch and got fucked by the whole "turn it over to prevent overheating". Sony had me pay $100 to fix it. Fuckers! Then came the PS2. Horrible launch lineup of games, and then came the fucking DRE's. Sony asked me to pay $100 to fix it. Fuckers (i traded it in on a gamecube). I almost bought the PSP at launch and remembered my previous 2 problems (along with countless other Sony electronics problems) and didn't. Thank goodness! Dead pixels, sticky square buttons, etc.

So that leaves me to ask, what will go wrong with the first gen of PS3 consoles? That is why I will instead wait, but of course I'll get one!

So since there's a million stories of people being fucked by these hardware issues, why would so many of you fall victim to it again?

Only console I had to repair was my Xbox(and my Master System II is a bitch).
My launch PS1 and PS2 works to this day(though launch PS1 have some dre).

EDIT: My Vic 20 died on me.

I'd rather get the first version because all the cool shit happens to the first version. Take note of 2.0 owners of the PSP. I will stay 1.5 forever

My launch PS2 is still humming along..and I use it quite a bit.

My launch PS1...not so much...

Early adopters get screwed in one way (early revision hardware) but also get the benefit of enjoying great new games before most. So..it's a trade off.

EDIT: BTW, I think MS had worse quality with the Xbox (damn Thomson drive..)

I never had a problem with any Sony consoles I owned. Bought them all at launch too.

Lucky you. There's always a you. Always saying how you never had a problem. I bought my systems on/near launch and theyve had problems.

Fucking gambling with sony.

I secretly envy your luck.

actually the launch ps2's were some of the most reliable and psp's launched with no sticky square buttons stateside and with 1.5 firmware.....so im buying one and plunking down an extra 15 to EB for their extended warranty and if anything happens i return it no questions asked
