Aborting Posts

So...I post a decent amount, but I also notice that I refrain a lot as well. I will even get as far as typing up a whole post, re-reading it, then deciding to just click away and not post it.

How many others do this? And what percentage of potential posts do you feel you coat-hanger before you post them?

I will only do this in posts where things get extremely argumentative and I just decide fuck it.

so yeah, I do this a lot. :P

Sometimes in a long thread, I want to respond to a topic that was only discussed early on in the thread, so I can't just go back to that one topic. So I say nothing at all.

I also hold back when the topics start getting dominated by petty arguments. I've also found that just posting pictures tends to be more effective than making long posts, anyway

I do it a lot, mostly because I think it won't contribute anything anyway or I can't convey what I want to say well enough. English not being my native language plays a part in this.

I never used to abort my posts mid-term, rather I'd only post when I was sure I had something to say.

Lately, I've started posts that I knew would cause way too much argument for what they're worth, and aborted late-term to full-term posts.

Hell, sometimes I just whack the post in the head after it's already out and edit it down to a period.

I occasionally write up a post and then realize I have no interest in dealing with the inevitable responses, so I just scratch the whole thing.

I check doucle check and triple check before every post...then abort more often than not

I'd say 6/7 of the posts I write up I end up not getting posted...it's retarded, I know =\

It's a post, not a choice!

Sorry, got carried away there... I probably abort 5% of my posts in their entirety, but I'll amputate huge sections from probably 10% of posts that I do end up submitting.

It's the same for me... I say to myself "Who cares what I think?" and delete it.
Just look at this thread: this post doesn't contribute anything that wasn't said beforehand, so why send it? Well, to ask this hypothetical question, I guess! :D

lately I'm doing it alot too...

I tend to write alot of posts based off the heat of the moment... then writing takes time and you're reading through what you wrote and thinking... this stuff isn't making that much sense anymore.

Or stuff like that.

Bleck, never do a Google image search for 'anti-abortion', especially after having a tasty Wendey's fetu...I mean, chicken sandwich.

Maybe about 2% of my posts.

I edit like mad though.

Yeah i agree, the people that are banned the most probably have the lowest aborted post percentage. Or they're just dickheads :)

2/3 of my posts are aborted.

I'll have to get in touch with these girls if I find anyone that wants to give up their baby.

I'm also assuming these fine young ladies could have as many "mistake" encounters that they want and be able to still support themselves and their babies.

God Bless America.

You're off message, Diablos. Pro-Lifers are "so ugly, they don't have to worry about abortions." :)

I do this probably more often than not. Most of the time it's because I'll finish, or get close to finishing responding, then before submitting click over to another tab for some reason. An hour later, I'll come back and realise I hadn't posted yet, and just think to myself "fuck it....discussion has probably moved on anyway."

Most things that I don't really care that much about don't get replied to, or get reply-aborted. If I respond it's usually only cuz I have some actual interest in doing so.

I do it a lot. I don't like getting caught up in page-spanning arguments with people, so I usually just say fuck it.

God, I do this ALL the time. Most of the time, it's me coming up with an argument in a pretty controversial issue, or me responding to someone that I disagree with that I know will elicit a response. I take into account how strongly I really feel about the topic, and whether I really want to bother coming up with a whole bunch of follow-up posts stating my case and whether I want the commitment to see the thing all the way through, and I'd say about 1/2 the time, I just say fuck it.

I agree with

. When I realize that someone will debunk what I say or that I won't get real advice, etc.

FUTA is also a popular thing that my thoughts gather here. I need techy advice, but I like the community here. I just want the same community with + 10 computer geek power.

Probably about a third of my posts get aborted for different reasons. Sometimes I won't really be in the mood, or I don't want a giant arguement, or I can't get the wording right.
