In an ideal world in the year or the Lord 2025, Japanese companies would catch up with the times and have full story co-op as an option and full VR in the same option as well.

Not holding my breath, but one can dream they'd catch up to 2025 standards.

Its weird how they can never seem to get online right over there. I mean even elden ring its still way more convoluted then it should be.

Gonna quickly shout out the seamless co-op mod for elden ring, cause it fundamentally changes the game into something special

I hope they do maybe a ps5 free update to 7 to make it 4k.

Even some old remasters of older titles. Just to help hold us over until 8.

What's the best Ace combat game out of the lot of them?
I would go with Zero first. then 4, 7, 5

I didn't like 6 and 123

They didn't have the impressive graphics for me to lure me in or a memorable music that I can actually call a great OST.

on the other hand, Zero ? hands down the best AC. even the last boss battle was something else.

Yeah but again 2 out of 3 stuck on PS2

If true, that there will be no PSVR2 support, no buy for me.
I'm in complete denial of this right now. Surely they're just meaning "at launch". And all the "technical hurdles" in regards to not making it smooth, I would beg to differ. If GT7 can pull it off with such blistering detail, they have no excuse. A keen use of the foveated rendering would be key, (let alone using eye tracking for targeting would be supremely dope), The detail and speed can be matched on base PS5.

That being said, so far it doesn't look any more detailed than AC7 imo (which still looks amazing). I will admit that it's making question purchase too. Maybe we need to start a petition. I'd sign the fuck out of it.

How hard are these games? Is it sort of like Pilotwings/Starcraft and arcade type style or are there a lot of technical points and is it a realistic style?

Confirmed no VR, no Korean and Chinese jet

To paraphrase the typical flatscreen gamers when they find out that a game they want to play is VR-only:

Not a good look, Bamco. You're gatekeeping part of your loyal fanbase by not having VR support, thus leaving the game out of our preferred platform. How are we supposed to play your game if you exclude us with B.S. like this?

(Will wait when it's $5 on Steam only if it works well with UEVR, if not, they lost a sale.)

For flight game in this era, flat screen gameplay for flight game is redundant and stagnant. Becomes stale in a little while. VR adds more excitement, innovation and immersion for flight related game.

No VR will make this game stale. It turns out acecombat 7 is still better with VR. This just makes Acecombat 8 , more like a dlc or expansion.

I'll take Ace Combat 8 without VR if necessary.

If you are missing VR too badly (and are on PC of course) try Project Wingman. Those guys made a perfect clone of Ace Combat with a few twists that works great with VR... Played with Oculus Rift a few years back and it's amazing.

AC7 never released VR missions on PC so I never got to play it in that format but I'm sure it's not that different from Project Wingman.

Project wing man is good. Its still dissapointing that we are on a more advance generation and we are still stuck with a same old flat screen version Ace combat. Flight games today are more immersive and advance and allot of innovation because of VR.No buy for me without PSVR2 support. Anyway I will wait for Aces of thunder which i hope will have a launch date.

Never heard of Aces of Thunder, just checked it out and it looks interesting. I don't have a VR headset currently (my OR broke and Meta is not selling replacement cables) so I'm out of the VR market currently but I've been thinking about jumping back, that Falcon BMS mod looks mighty delicious.

Even Flight Simulator is working on support.

Japanese devs gonna antiquate a lot of the times.

Even with a 2014 PC?
Check your GPU performance with YouTube video of PS2 emulation. Considering a shit GPU like the Snapdragon 650 APU on phones which was mid range at best when it was released ( there was a higher Snapdragon versions that came out at the same time ) can run PS2 emulation at 4x 60 fps no issues I am going to assume you are good too.

I loved 7 and got the urge to play the series. It took me a few years to get started, but I finally played through the series in 2025. I only got Belkan Wars left, I need a slight break since I just did 4 and 5.

I am shocked I haven't played this series before 7, all of the games are great, it is very consistant, and they scratch an itch I didn't know I needed scratched.

Even the PS1 games are great, the biggest problem is how slow the menus are, but it still has the fundamentals.

Flying around, lining up missiles and dodging in and out of combat is satisfying in all the games. Ace Combat 2 built the formula, and it was interesting to see just how much they nailed in that game and how much of it is still used in 7 in some ways.

I am probably gonna get to the PSP games soon, after I finish Belkan Wars. The games are so short that it shouldn't be an issue to get through it before 8.

Massive Ace Combat fan so of course I'll be there day one.

Ace Combat 3 (play the fan translation!!) is one of the greatest games to come out at the tail end of the PS1 cycle. Absolutely amazing; great gameplay; branching paths; cyberpunk vibes and animated by the same people that did Ghost in the Shell.

To say nothing of the "holy trinity" (Ace Combat 4, 5 and Zero). If you've been to an air show in the last 10 years and wondered why they played Blurry by Puddle of Mudd... You'll find out.
