I apologize, I did read your post too quickly and latched on to the super-widescreen comment.

Thanks.

Dude, this is the version of Night of the Lving Dead they released in 1997 with additional scenes that is considered to be a travesty by the fans. It was created by someone who somehow got the rights and butchered the movie.... I have no doubt he chopped off the top and bottom to make a "widescreen" film. Check out the Millenium Edition, which is newer, officially approved by the director, and "full frame". Hmmm...

It's because the original Night of the Living Dead is "full frame". Though big Hollywood movies switched to widescreen in the 50s, indie movies and B movies were still in 4:3 for a long time.

Can someone answer this for me? It's probably just some technical limitation - but i've always wondered why we got 4:3 sets in the very first place, considering cinema has always been in 16:9 (it has hasn't it?)?

It had become so engrained - most people weren't educated - my dad always complains about widescreen being worse, as it cuts off the top and bottom!

Movies were initially 4:3 as well. And few movies are actually 16:9 (they're usually even wider, that's why most widescreen DVDs are still letterboxed on 16:9 sets). When TVs starting becoming popular the filim industry started to play with wide aspect ratios to differentiate itself from television.

EDIT: beaten like a dead horse.

2405FPW? You can justify it by using it for your consoles. They are really nice
I wish I could afford one :(

Yeah, I'm strongly considering getting a second one for multimonitor (my second monitor is a 21" CRT now) and xbox lan parties. They're super duper.
