Who played these as a kid?

I know I did.

Wasn't the last one "Super Adventure Island" for the SNES? I enjoyed that, except that the lack of crazy dinosaur cards sucked.

The first one was the first game I ever rented. Impossible to play for me after about three or four stages. Never played the other ones

Adventure Island II was probably one of my favorite NES platformers of all time.

Didn't really care for Super AI's rap music and gameplay regression though, nor did Super AI II's "RPG" elements and Wonderboy-esq game structure do much for me (it's a neat idea, but not for this series)

I was really dissapointed the AI remakes for PS2/GC were never released here.

Don't be dissapointed. The GC remake is only medicore. I have it.

I really liked Super Adventure Island's music. I was blown away by it's quality at the time. Mind you, this was shortly after the system was first released.
