After CTHD: Recommend movies with Michelle Yeoh or Chow Yun-Fat

Well, I finally saw Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon last month, and loved it. Michelle Yeoh and Chow Yun-Fat both played great characters, and I'd like to see more of their work. I'm not at all familiar with the Hong Kong/Martial Arts genre, so I'm looking for recommendations. I'd prefer to see movies they did with strong, well-developed characters and beautiful cinematography, but fight scenes and explosions are always a plus. What's their best work?

for chow yun fat, you should start right away with most of the john woo movies:

The Killer
Hardboiled
A Better Tomorrow
then
God of Gamblers
City on Fire
Waiting for Dawn

as for Michelle Yeoh movies, err...they are regular kung fu stuff (which is fine by me), not at the level of CTHD as far as film making is concerned, but if you just care about the fighting then:

Heroic Trio
Supercop 2
Twin Warriors
etc
hell i liked her in the Bond movie as well.

The only movie I know Yeoh from is Tomorrow Never Dies, and I think it's one of the better Bond movies, although practically no one else agrees.

CTHD belongs to the wuxia genre.
From my memory, most of Chow Yun Fat's and Yeoh's movies are of the kung-fu type (actually, Chow's best movies are action movies).

If you like the wuxia stuff, you might wanna check out films like Hero, House of Flying Daggers, etc.

Otherwise, I second "hard boiled". Best action movie evar!

Tai Chi Master (Twin Warriors) is one of the greatest kung fu flicks ever. Jet Li and Yeoh.

Hard Boiled and the Killer... theses are two of the greatest gun jockey action movies of all time (something I like to call Gat fu.)

God of Gamblers is nice, I'd like 2 better... but one is fun.

Police Story 3: Supercop (I think that's the whole title) also rocks.. when Yeoh is teamed with another superstar she is goooood

Also, if you want to see Chow Yun Fat act in english,The Corruptor is solid pick, the DVD is really cheap now and packed with a lot of special features. The gun battle at the beginning of the film I use as a demo for my sound system, because the sound effects are just so awesome. I literally almost had a heart attack when I dared to turn up my system as loud as it would go for that scene, almost feeling like I got shot in the chest myself. If Hard Boiled or the Killer had sound effects like that, people would die watching those movies.

I haven't seen God of Gamblers, City on Fire and Waiting for Dawn, I will look them up. Hard Boiled is practically my favorite movie of all time. You know the movie is great when the director during the commentary is wow'd by scenes of the movie like it's breathtakingly brilliant.

Great, thanks. I think I'll start off with The Killer and Hardboiled for Chow Yun Fat, and Twin Warriors for Michelle Yeoh.

That was a nice interview with Michelle Yeoh on the CTHD extras. She seems like an interesting person and it really made me want to see more of her stuff.

The funny thing is she can't read Chinese. Her scripts are written in the English version of Chinese...

City on Fire is Reservoir Dogs shot in order. QT said he was influenced by the movie, but anyone who has seen both can see he was more than influenced (RD is a bit better though IMO)
