GD: Has any thought been given to porting the series over to console? Perhaps the Xbox 360?
GS: We've thought about it a lot, but we aren't actually doing it. Yet. So far, RTS games have not fared well when ported to a console. We think there are solutions to making an RTS on a console, but they might involve such dramatic changes to the RTS genre that the end result wouldn't feel like an Age of Empires game anymore. It would be something else completely.
GD: What's next for the development team once Age of Empires III has been completed?
GS: We're going to Disneyworld (well, I am anyway). We all are going to take a long break, and then get hard to work on our next great game (and there's a good chance it might not even be an RTS). We will support AOEIII after it ships, however. This is a game with a lot of content and a persistent element, and that means spending time to solve balance issues (as well as other bugs) as they arise. We are dedicating a post-ship team to support AOEIII with balance fixes and new content, which is something we've never done before.

Isn't Age of Kings coming to DS or something? I know it's not a console and it has a pointer that can be used like a mouse, but I would think they could come up with something to make this work on the Xbox 360.
