AI Limit gameplay preview (looking like Code Vein 2.0)

IGN posted an exclusive gameplay preview of the most recent build of AI Limit. According to IGN the game is set to release later this year for PS5 and PC.

Some things of note:

  • Work in progress footage.
  • Soulslike gameplay.
  • Labyrinth-style level design.
  • Art style similar to Code Vein, a lot of Reds and Dark Gray color used for characters and environments.
  • Has a 'Sync Rate Meter' which is like a super bar in a fighting game, that you get to 100% by attacking enemies.
  • The game wants you to be aggressive and use the Sync rate meter to do supers after a string.

I figured if there were any fans of Code Vein here like myself, this might be something to keep an eye on.

I'm saving it for later. The title made me think of some AI generated game or something, really doubted for a moment lol

NeoGAF's Physical Games Advocate Extraordinaire
I think AI Limit is one of the games that can be demo'ed this weekend at BitSummit Drift in Japan. Anyway, I've watched both the IGN and Noisy Pixel previews and they seemed positive on it. Will probably pick it up especially if it gets a physical release.

I can tell by the gameplay video that the the level design is absolute dog shit. If they chose a fucking copy pasted linear sewer to preview their game, you can imagine how the rest is. Pass.

At least the enemies react to your attacks which instantly makes the combat look way better than Code Vein.
That said, while the main character an enemies look good, all the environments in that video look boring as fuck.

The Sync Rate meter awarding aggression could set this apart from other Souls games for me. It's pretty much the opposite of managing stamina, which I don't like doing.

This just makes me wish Bamco would make Code Vein 2 for real.

Same, I like the idea of it being treated like a fighting game super meter. There's still so many new ideas that can be had in terms of souls combat.

I have liked it more than I thought.

Pros:

— It's an anime Souls game through and through, in the good sense. It adds a couple of tweaks that makes the gameplay interesting: casting magic/powers is very easy, there is no stamina, and you don't lose all experience points. Don't think the game is easy because of this. It's not. You die if you don't pay attention, and some enemies, equivalent to the blue-eyed knights, are hard to tackle initially. I got to the first boss but couldn't kill him in 1 hour of gameplay.

—Intricate map, moody atmosphere, cryptic lore rich story.

—Inspirations: aesthetically this is pretty much Blame, the resemblances are not subtle. The character that levels you up is ripped from the manga.

Cons:

—The first area is a dark sewer, like those annoying dark areas in Souls games. I have fallen to my death several times because I didn't see shit. I'd love to see other areas.

—The basic enemies are generic uninteresting monsters. Then you fight humanoid bastards that I couldn't kill. Too difficult.

—Music is nonexistent.

—A game with mid graphics shouldn't let you choose between fidelity or performance. It's unjustified. I usually don't care but in this one, it makes a huge difference switching between modes and that's fucking annoying. In fidelity I see things much better (the character is brighter too) but the performance is very bad.

I will buy it, depending on price. For 30 euros would be perfect.

I played this demo for awhile

Many games are called "Soulslikes" because they contain one or more elements of From games

This game is quite literally Dark Souls with the main character being an anime girl. It is a 100% perfect 1:1 clone. It's Dark Souls with a very light anime skin

I hope eventually Chinese games branch out from being copies of Dark Souls. Black Myth Wukong is a Soulslike but at least it's not a perfect copy paste clone like this game

I was hoping you could elaborate on this. Do you mean 1:1 map design, 1:1 skillset, 1:1 bosses?

Because Soulslikes is a genre now, it is hard to parse what ‘this is just like dark souls’ really means without further elaboration.

I mean literally just try the demo yourself

It's exactly Dark Souls, you'll see

I just want to amend my post a bit and say it's actually Bloodborne as opposed to Dark Souls

Beyond that, the anime chick is cute and looks like Jeanne Alter, the tutorial boss actually gave me a bit of trouble because I've gone soft after my last Soulslike was Stellar Blade, and there are a number of bugs in both the PS5 and PC version demos but this game doesn't even have a release date yet so I guess we might not see it for a while longer

Despite being very uncreative, it's fundamentally a solid playing game and cute anime girl controls like what you expect from From Software so good job there Chinese devs

Maybe I'll pick this one up when it releases someday, guess we'll see

Khazan and now this...

I can't deal anymore with super mediocre, copy-pasted souls-likes clones, the formula has wore thin and then some...

Do IGN use AI to produce these article or video? It sounds completely souless and at times irrelvant; the same review can be used on Street of rage or something and it would'nt feel out of place.

Do these people get paid to do these jobs?

As for the game, it looks mid.

Imagine the underground area of Lyndell in Elden Ring. Then, mode it with an anime filter with BLAME! vibes.

As for gameplay, UI, enemy locations, traps and progression, it's Dark Souls 3 with these changes:

- No stamina (it rewards being aggressive)

- Parry + visceral attack is easy to pull off. You can switch between this and shield (very good idea)

- The effectiveness of your weapons depends on keeping a burst bar filled near 100%

If you like Dark Souls and Code Vein this is a safe bet, because the gameplay is solid. I always wanted Miyazaki to make a game inspired by Blame! , which is this game but with a small budget. If they are going to rip it unapologetically I hope they go all in and nail the gritty atmosphere of the manga. Some of the characters already appear in the demo (the robot girl that levels you up and a big biomechanic monster)

Wow, this isn't "close" to Code Vein. It looks exactly the same, in every aspect. Has to be the same developer lol.

Code Vein was absolutely excellent and my favorite "Souls" game to date. Looking forward to Code Vein 2.
