AIM 5.9 is out. Has anyone been the guinea pig and downloaded this inevitable resource hog. Thoughts?

It's now incorperating the AOL style buddy icons that talk and shit.

No thanks.

Oh, and it doesn't work well with DeadAIM.

AIM 4.3 or 4.4 is the best. I don't remember which one. But one of them had the experimental built in autologging which actually worked quite well. Despite the fact that it stored everything in one great massive html file.

Haven't used any instant messenging in over a year though, good riddance.

You better check for spyware, I don't get any popups at GAF.

Oh and I'm riding on Trillian 2.013 Pro. My favorite IMing program (lets me go on IRC too!) and it was a rather small footmark unless you're using a fancy skin. The only thing I HATE about it is that for some reason I can't do a direct connection or file transfer with anyone who is using AIM.

I used to use DeadAIM, but now they're charging for it. Are there any other programs similar to it that are free? (i.e. logging, being able to reply even when an away message is up, etc.)

It's not spyware. It's like the official popup that you get when you go to a website that has a secure server (for like entering your credit card and stuff).




oldversion.com has the free version of DeadAIM. You'll have to get the last corresponding AIM that DeadAIm supports from oldversion too, though.

I'm still on AIM 4.8 with AIM+...autolog feature is pretty big for me, and i don't think the 5.x versions are compatible with it.

I don't like it. The IM windows are still buggy. They don't look like what the skin image shows them to be. Do you have this problem as well?

It's a nice mod, but it's just not there yet.

I really hate the new AIM's buddy icon usage. It was just fine how it used to be. Didn't result in clutter.

Now I have all this shit on the windows I NEVER use... games, expressions... and they stuff the buddy icons on the left? Why?

I turned them off entirely. Really stupid move for this program.
