The assholes at work blocked AIM, and locked down basically every port except the http one. AIM won't get past step 2.

So, I'm forced to use AIM Express.

But anyway, any IM box with it ends up having some sort of overlay box obscuring the text entry area... always. And it shows whatever text is in the window behind it. This has happened on both Windows and OSX. Is this just AIM Express being shit? I hope there's some fix for it, as it's extremely annoying to not see what you're typing.

This probably won't help your plight, but I was forced to use AIM Express at my old workplace but the problems were different. Mostly it was that it wouldn't run half of the time period. But when it was working, I didn't have that text box obscuring thing.

But if you don't mind the loss in functionality, I've found the older version of AIM Express to work better generally:
