I don't want to be that guy - but slow movement, combat looks basic and levels look generic. Praying on Rachet and Clank fans but providing none of the charm.

Played a few hours. I will be comparing this to ratchet and clank as it's clearly what the game's most similar to

  • The shooting mechanics are more refined and offer more control than ratchet and clank (makes sense for pc)
  • Melee seems less precise and enemies are kinda boring to fight up close so far
  • Base movement is also more fun with the dash and double jump movement combinations
  • Weapons seem way less varied or distinct
  • Combat seems to sometime take place at a further distance than I remember from any r&c
  • Level design is a lot more flat so far
  • Minigames seem more interesting if only because they are immediately familiar as well as being time based (nothing as cool as the shrinking and grinding on rail locks from size matters though)
  • Characters have way less charm and the mc in particular is of a generally annoying, no nonsense, tough guy merc trope
  • Enemy silhouettes are not distinct enough and it's sometimes difficult to tell them apart from the environment, especially at night
  • Platforming is a lot of fun
Damn good game despite all of that though

I was in until the platformer part, do we know how much and how hard the platforming is?
Only played a few hours but it's not hard at all. Though It's not braindead either. You have to combine jumping and dashing and consider timing to avoid lasers and so on
The 4 hours I played were maybe 60% jumping between platforms.

The second level seems to have a greater focus on combat though so who knows how this turns out

Is it as easy as platforming in ratchet? Or more like a proper platform?

I encourage anyone curious to try out the free demo. It's the full first level and you'll immediately tell if it's your thing
