Am I the only one that thinks Saw is a GREAT, even classic, movie?

goddamit, Griese!
I mean, I absolutely LOVE this movie. The acting is very meh at times, but overall I think this is actually in my top 5 ever.
The scene in Adam's apartment with the flash is one of the best movie scenes of all time.

I loved it this much in the theaters, but I thought it may have been just that night I was really into it for some reason....but then when I watched it again today it had the same effect.

Such an awesome movie. I also like pessismistic/bad guy wins movies so fucking much, because they're so rare. Arlington Road is freakin' great, just for the ending.

But yeah, 6 out of the 11 people I watched it with tonight told me I was crazy....someone else has to think this is a great movie.......right? =(

A movie which you yourself describe as having "meh" acting, isn't a great movie. The concept was awesome but it wasn't executed properly. And really I just can't get over how Danny Glover's jumped around corners in the killer's lair. He looked like a five year old playing policeman.

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
As has been said, it was a good idea kinda poorly executed. The acting sucked. Danny Glover's character served no purpose. The speeding up of the torture scenes totally ruined the moment. The ending was a bit too convoluted. No movie is made by a great ending anyway.

What pissed me off the most was that the trailers showed the best parts of the movie.

Umm actually, that said, I kind of enjoyed it...

EXACTLY! Worst yet, the trailers didn't just show the best parts of the movie, it hid the fact that those parts would be ruined by fast fowarding bad car commercial bullshit. What should have been the best parts of the movie (the brutal deaths) were sped through. For a film company called Twisted Pictures, they sure were afraid to show anything twisted.

There are these things called censors you know. If you want a movie to get any sort of decsent release you cant turn it into ichi the killer.

Dead

well not really...yet
I thought it was utterly terrible. Aside from the ending, which I liked a lot, though still not enough to salvage the movie....

Best american horror movie since the '70 era. And Danny Glover's character was interesting. If he wasnt there, you guys would have said OMG NO CHARACTER DEVELOPPEMENT!! LOLL HAY GO SEE SPIDERMAN 2 OMG

That doctor, OMG!!!!

Everytime he said ''come on'' I wanted to see him die. And when he starts crying....OMG!!one111!!!

I enjoyed the movie, though.

yeah the biggest problem with this film is that they speeded up the death scenes.

i was relaxed in my chair enjoying this flick and when the first death scene starts and the camera flips in to HYPER speed i was like" WTF happend! " it totaly killed the scene and the atmosphear that it all had built up to.

It's not only the torture scenes that had that ridiculously stupid fast-foward effect.. the car chase did as well. That part was so bad, it made me laugh out loud in the theater.

I'd call it a 'good' horror flick, but 'great'? Nope, not in my opinion anyway. Shaky acting, useless characters....bascially what's been said in this thread already. The concept was aces, though. Too bad.

One of the most illogical, and badly thought out films I've seen in a while.
"Hey! The man we know is the killer is coming! Instead of arresting him though, let's hide, because I want to see his face, because once I arrest him, there's no possible way I can see his face!"
"Wow! The guy we thought was dead was the one behind it the whole time! This makes sense, because we wouldn't be able at all to see him breathing or buzzing us when we were trying to trick him, and a guy with cancer can lie motionless for hours without making an any sign of life!"
"My family is calling me! Instead of simply flipping over the box and getting the phone, I will mildly hit it with the box and then cut my own leg off! Then, even though this film is 'fucked up', I won't show the leg or any of the foot removing process! Hardcore! And once my foot is gone, I will for some reason stop caring about the phone!"
Yes, I know that you can't expect a film to be perfectly sensible in all aspects, but this film just had too much. And after those initial trailers, I was so excited to see those scenes unedited, with even more scenes like it, but no.

Excellent movie. It stuck with me for days. Great to think about what you'd do in the same situation.

I might have run the water in the bathtub and over the floor until the firealarms in the building went off (if they were even still activated). That or I would have tried to pry one of the smaller pipes off of the wall and then attempt to remove the chains through some kind of leverage.

For what it was it is a topnotch movie for it's genre (although it's a mixed genre).

It has it's share of fuck ups, like the guy choosing to saw off shit (not saying for fear of spoilage) rather than use his shirt to pull the cell to him. duhhhh

It was a unique hybrid movie I really enjoyed and stuck with me for days as well, in fact I want to go see it again since it's a movie that should be viewed more than once IMO.

The biggest problem for me was the rediculously unbelieveable ending, LOL (I felt cheated)

But overall I think if you consider it a horror movie I'd say top 5, if it's a thriller/suspense then I'd say top 10.

Really good, but flawed movie at times.

Never mind that the car chase (as well as the action that followed) was pretty pathetic

Too much stuff happened that defied, well, reason... just so the plot's fancy Rube Goldberg machinery could play out.

I thought it was fun enough to watch, but I don't like to think about it much after...

Uhh..

The guy on the floor is just another pawn of that mysterious killer. He was ordered to stay there. Just like the other peoples. What was great is that everybody got owned and we have no idea of who is the guy

No, he was the culprit. The killer used poisoning, and other 'impending death' devices to coerce his victims into doing his bidding. The killer had cancer, you can't fabricate that. His condition would also parallel his motives.

I digged it. And I love the actor that played the bad guy. I remember him from the Sopranos, "the CORE, the CORE, nothing mattters but the CORE." :lol

Pete Carroll Owns Me
I just watched it last night. The acting wasnt as bad as I'd heard. Thought it was a pretty decent flick overall. But I'd say great is a little strong.

the acting was a bit weak, but the concept was pretty cool. i definitely enjoyed the movie. according to entertainment weekly, they were on an 18-day shooting schedule, "which meant that rehearsal footage often ended up being used as final takes." so ill let the poor acting slide a bit.

awesome movie, had its flaws, like mentioned above , and the acting by dr gordon was laughable near the end, but yeah at that point he lost it, it anyway. Ending was just great no one saw that coming. Dumbass Dr lol.

Ok, so I rented saw and watched up to the final chapter, but then it stops because of a scratch on the disc!! AAAARGH!!! Can someone please spoil the ending for me? I could watch until
Larry lost it and cut off his foot, he then went for the gun, what happened after that??

I really like the movie by the way, it certainly entertained me, quite a sick movie!

he shoots the guy. The orderly then comes in the room and is about to shoot Larry and Larry's like "But i won the game, i killed him" and then the orderly is like "TIme ran out. You lose." and just before he is about to fire Adam gets up and tackles the guy and beats him to death w/ the toilet seat. Larry gets up and is like "Im going to get help for us" and leaves. Adam looks through the orderly's coat and finds a tape player with a tape with the killers voice telling the orderly to kidnap Larry's family and kill Larry if he loses the game. Then the dead body thats been in the middle of the room the whole time gets up, revealing himself to be the cancer patient Larry was treating. He was the killer the whole time, then he leaves and goes after Larry. Emilio Estevez pulls up in a truck and picks up the killer and they go after him.

Thanks for typing that out!

The ending seemes a bit...well...far fetched, though it does make sense. Did Emilio Estevez really show up though? Seems like a veeery small role.
