Amazon is retiring Prime Gaming

Frustrated Season 2 GIF by Paramount+

So, are they still doing free games or just shifting it over to Luna? It's a bit unclear.

If they are not releasing the games anymore, that's a big cut to primes value imo.

Guess we will see

As expected, google stood with gaming for a year or two, I think gamers are being rounded up and forced to pay large subscriptions, gamers need a representative to speak up for them, if Amazon wants to get into gaming, make a AAA game.

Luna itself is getting an overhaul as well.

There will be two tiers, Luna Standard as part of Amazon Prime subscription and Luna Premium for bigger catalog.

And they will be getting Indiana Jones and the Great Circle when service revamp launches.

So MS has started to lease games to Amazon.

And the gamenight Snoop Dogg game looks like an interesting idea.

Should probably clarify that they're retiring the branding, not the program itself. Although this may be step 1 in that process.

It's a rebrand... not a great one, but nothing more than that.

They're trying to do some new stuff with Luna, but none of it makes sense as usual.

still offering Prime benefits like free monthly PC games

Only reason I clicked was to confirm if this was staying. Good to see, couldn't care less about anything else unless Amazon wants to make more of the keys GoG over Epic.

I get the free GOG games if i like and want them, which is easy to add to my GOG library a few Epic ones here and there, but that's it, i have never tried the Luma ones or the odd MS game as i don't link all my accounts or want to jump through hoops to sign up to services i don't use, they must be running out of really good games to give away by now anyway.

Um, ok. I've been an Amazon Prime customer for many years, and I've never given a second thought to Prime Gaming, whatever that is.

There are also games offered by Amazon themselves. You download them from the Amazon Games app, but they are otherwise DRM free. Those are the ones with the Crown icon.

The Microsoft games can be worth grabbing, as those are play anywhere so you get both PC and Xbox licenses of the games.

Never tried the Amazon app, but drm free is good, i don't use the PC app or Windows store from MS, i prefer access to my files and open source over closed as i use mods, i'm good with GOG and Steam, i rarely use Epic either.

You can use Heroic Launcher instead of the Amazon app if you want as well.

I've been seeing a lot more Luna stuff and less EGS and GOG keys on Twitch, so I'm hoping that this doesn't mean they are removing those two stores entirely. They've given away a lot of really good games on both platforms and I really couldn't give a shit about Luna and will never use it.
