AMD vs Intel CPU market share over time; AMD caught up on desktop.

Good I hope they keep making up for lost time. Intel got a little too comfortable.

Plus, I have stock in AMD.

Crazy and good for then, but also important to remember one mediocre gen can cost then all their gains.

Yeah, PassMark results have nothing to do with real life split between Intel and AMD.
Anyone rational knows there's years of old Intel CPUs out there. The current trend is just as telling and deserves note. And I'm happy about that as AMD deserves success.

AMD are doing great but Intel is still dominating. I think they will stop AMDs growth when they put out Alder Lake. Intel losing Apple is a huge loss for them so that'll hurt. Intel will be fine in the long run though but yeah it's good to see competition from AMD + Apple.

The embarrassing part here is trying to find 5000 series Ryzen laptop with good screen.

But then there was that shocking interview in which MSI CEO literally said how they were not going to upset Intel too much, but were kinda forced to also offer AMD stuff, as Intel's stuff was in short supply.
And how after that he proposed to "sit together" with Intel guys, to "think about how to get the market share bad".

In Pascal times NV allegedly teamed with Intel to ban any AMD laptop offering faster than 2060.

This kind of pathetic shit is still going.

This is soo misleading.

AMD is still but a fraction of Intel and some silly benchmark is not a convincing indication of the market share at all.

Intel losing Apple is a huge loss for them
Citation needed.

If amd keeps this up for 2-3 years, they can overtake intel on the PC segment.

Sadly i can't cheer much for AMD because there CPU's are just as retarded priced as intel at this point.

Steam is not a reliable metric due to multiple users in multiple PC cafes. It's good for trends but it is not accurate.
Its more reliable than Passmark that for sure.

Doesnt Intel leave AMD in the dust for a few years every time they eventually catch up?
Alderlake is expected to be a 20% gain in single threaded

Zen 4 also expected to be 20% gains on Zen 3.

It means we'll likely see these things within touching distance of each other.

Alderlake coming with DDR5 and PCIE5 will give it some advantage if coolers and motherboards are reasonably priced.

If the next intel series comes with pci-e5 then honestly intel was right on pcie-4, waste of time.

I very much expect Alderlake to support PCIE5 and DDR5.
Its up to motherboard makers to have MBs ready for the chips launch.

And for SSD makers to not charge us 300 dollars for 1TB of PCIE5.

Apple was only around 3-5% is my understanding. Certainly a sizeable amount but less significant than people portray. I always thought it was more myself. Of course I'm speaking about sales, nothing to do with Mindshare

AMD will caught up on laptop this or next gen , Zen 3 mobile chips are also crazy good isn't it . 5800H is already looking amazing with it being very efficient and performs great .

Agreed. The only market segment where AMD will struggle for years to come is servers.

I bet there’s a few people out there that want to build but can’t because of the current climate. In a year or two when supply rises and demand falls I think we will see AMD rise even more.

Shame they are still perceived as lacking in the GPU space, NVidia need a kick up the arse.
