American Dad: wtf?

American Dad is supposed to be a parody of the hardcore Republican father that is predominant in white, middle class suburbia. Taking in the usually inflammatory nature of the show's creator, it's not surprising that there would be a racist joke thrown in.

But it's not poking fun at your race. Rather, it's poking fun at Republicans for being racist, which is apparently the message.

You see it's a joke because they were all afraid of the arabic family being terrorists but the tables were turned and in fact it was they who were the racists.

It's deep.

Was it the one where the Dad rides the Islamic guys the whole time about being unpatriotic? Because if so, it was supposed to show irony- they got picked on, then they pick on black guys...

There was a similar joke a few episodes before that where the Alien and the son knock out some girls who found out what the Alien was. This followed the scene:

Alien: Did you see who did this?
Son: Did what?
Alien: The Black guys who did this.

It's basically a stab at the stupid notion that a crime is more believable if it was done by a Black guy. Obviously false, but there are people who believe it.

So I was watching American Dad last night on Adult Swim. It was good but then at the end when the Islamic people said they had worse neighbors before, and that they were black, I really had a "what the fuck?" moment.

Can someone please explain that joke? Because being black, I didn't really understand what's so bad about having black neighbors. Oh, were they bad neighbors because they were black? That joke was stupid, not funny, and somewhat offending.
LOL! It seems like you were entirely okay with the entire rest of the episode just because all of that racial humor was directed at another race that isn't your own. That black neighbors remark was the best joke of the episode and made me laugh forever, because I have black neighbors and it's so true. After all, every joke made against every race is applicable to every single person within that race with no outliers, and they're not just humorous takes on tired stereotypes.

I've wittnessed firsthand that there are a lot of non-black people that really don't like having black neighbors. This doesn't just apply to whites. One of my more well-off relatives lives in a very nice well to-do community but went to war with his Pakastani(or something like that) neighbors when he and his family first moved in. The first week they moved in even accusing my cousin's oldest boy of stealing something from his garage (which he never did). Ignorance comes in all colors my friend.

Wait so you didn't have a problem with the father terrorizing the neighbors FOR THE ENTIRE EPISODE just because they were Islamic(using every stereotype in the book BTW), but you did have problems with one throwaway black family joke?

You need to get some perspective.

Agreed.. Was this the same week's episode as the episode of the Family Guy where Stewie was talking about an embarrasing moment... he got ready to tell a joke... and stopped.. and walk to check.. looked... walked to check looked... etc for awhile, and just as he was about to tell the black guy joke, the black guy popped up out of the flower pot?

That sh*t had me rolling.

These shows compliment each other so damn well.. I immediately got in to Family Guy when I started watching it a few weeks ago but it took me a bit to warm up to American Dad... I enjoy both of them now...

Why are you even watching the show if that offended you? I mean, seriously.
