At a time when Russia is turning into a North Korea style dictatorship, anyone from the west going there, is asking for trouble.
We are in a full blow Cold War, the west is helping Ukraine defending itself, from the biggest invasion in Europe, since WW2.
Russia just recently passed new measures to block it's internet from the rest of the world.
Even for ordinary Russians, it's dangerous to express anything that goes in the slightest against Putin's regime.
Of course, it's going to be much worse for an American.
You'd be surprised though to find out how many religiously conservative Americans (but also Canadians and Australians) have moved to Russia in the past couple of years. Youtube is full of these.

Beijing isn’t much better about arbitrary detention.Going from Moscow to Beijing on the Trans-Mongolian railway is a journey I've wanted to make for years. But with current events I can't see myself doing that anytime in the near future.
It should also be a wake up call of what happens if you let evil countries like Russia or china have their way.It highlights how fragile freedom can be in the wrong circumstances
This story should serve as a wake-up call for anyone who underestimates how quickly freedoms can be stripped away in certain parts of the world
They are getting paid and they have minders in the back ground.Kinda unrelated, but I've watched so many youtubers making videos of living in China and how amazing it is without ever, ever saying one bad thing about it. It's nuts.
Made me think that they are all getting paid by China for the propaganda.
There's no perfect place to live, and if there is, there's no way that its China. So the censorship was obvious.

Yeah, serpentza was critical when he lived there, and they kicked him out. I believe he lives in the US now (I haven't watched him in ages), he is originally from South Africa.Kinda unrelated, but I've watched so many youtubers making videos of living in China and how amazing it is without ever, ever saying one bad thing about it. You wouldn't happen to remember his name or channel? They are getting paid and they have minders in the back ground.
There's an Australian guy who's got loads of videos about china from when he lived there. He exposes it all. You can literally see the minders in the background.
And the minders don’t even bother making themselves unobvious.I saw the same kind of content on chinese social media. Basically they're given a deal and then they make content saying how much they love it there, going on talent shows and other crap. It's super cringe
Even youtubers are human. Is imprisoning youtubers really that bad?
I am sorry he had a bad time.
Took me awhile to find it. Shit guy has 1.5 mill subsYou wouldn't happen to remember his name or channel?
I'm more pissed off Poland, France, UK and cuck Germany haven't just sent troops in and wiped the floor with these russian conscripts.
Nukes please .There are two reasons for this: 1) Nukes. Troops on the ground would be tantamount to a declaration of war with Russia, which could potentially retaliate with its nuclear arsenal. 2) China. Besides their also having nukes, they hold an enormous influence over the world economy, which they would likely bring to bear in defense of their only powerful ally.
Needless to say, it's a highly precarious geopolitical situation.
Any American is a potential political "Win" for Russia by being falsely imprisoned so It's best not to go there.
