Never ever beat NG+. Never. Beaten this gem 4-5 times. Different platforms and versions
Where do I level up and what needs to be my focus?
I can do new londo early all except fight 4 kings right? drain it?You can't respec in 1, so just play it. Don't overthink it. Don't even think it.
Just enjoy end game gear in the early game, get the Master Key from the Welsh merchant if you don't have it so you can do things in a different order, and play. If you hit a point where you want a new weapon, go for it.
The later games get all fancy but DS1 has a purity to it because it lacks all that later stuff. Just meet minimum stats for gear and you're good to go.
If you want specific advice for what to do: do New Londo early. You'll have to go to the forest for the ring again, but that aside there is nothing stopping you.
Have fun.
Going to add a little muscle too. The BKH looks fun. But yeah I need to cap my Dex and VitPut everything into Resistance, you have dangerously little of it for a NG+ run.
...
Jokes aside, why not pump Dexterity, Vitality, and maybe Endurance up towards 50 for the soft cap.
After that, you can consider adding some Strength if you want heavier weapons / a little extra damager, some intelligence or faith if you want to use utility spells (chameleon, light etc.), or just pump Dexterity to the max for katana goodness
I'll let you find out for yourself what the limit is and why, that might be better than spoiling itI can do new londo early all except fight 4 kings right? drain it?
Also gonna save a few boss souls lolI'll let you find out for yourself what the limit is and why, that might be better than spoiling it
Yeah. I'm a slashy boy. Def have to dodge and roll around. I do wanna bulk up just a tad this NG+. Never ever beat ng+. So it's a goal of mine. DS2 is amazing. Don't care what anyone says. Its vibe is SOOOO different than DS1.Did you go with dex? I finished it last week, but I went full strength and endurance. Game got way easier once I slapped on a big shield. Dex builds must be tougher, since it's all about dodging and raw damage, right? Another option is using spells or miracles to buff your weapon, but honestly it only feels worth it during boss fights. For regular mobs, I don't think it makes much of a difference. This game didn't really make me want to do NG+. Not much changes. In DS2 I actually did NG+ 'cause it had some cool differences.
Excellent tips. Much appreciated. Not sure my weapon of choice this run. Last run was my beloved uchi. But it's maxed and have a feeling it won't carry me through- I suggest leveling up on Anor Londo.
- As for stats give Vitally and Endurance a boost, because you gonna need it for bosses that takes long and hits like a truck (Four Clowns for instance). Also focus on both STR and DEX, but no more than 40 because I think after that comes a hard cap (you're already 42 on DEX then start investing on STR).
- For weapons my rule is to pick weapons with dual scalings. Dual scaling are goods for NG+ where you can already invest on both DEX and STR. Weapons that drains good amount of poise like 2-hand swords and axes are great suggestion. Aways 2-hand both of them.
- Stick with Crest Shield.
- Stick Composite bow. Scales both STR and DEX.
- Four Clowns and Gwyin will be by far your most difficult challenges. If possible, aways call a NPC companion to help aliviate the burden.
- Four Clowns: the strategy is to stick with stamina recovery up itens at the start of the fight. Once you defeat the first clown do no stop attacking. Keep attacking until it's HP stops from decreasing. Your crest shield is the best defense against his stupid ranged attacks. They have a huge amount of HP on NG+, so this battle may take a while
- Gwyin: theres stalagmite that comes at the start of entrance, on the left. Use it to aliviate Gwyin aggressive attacks and pray that he does not hit you because he hits really hard
- Personnal suggestion: equip Ring of Favor and Protection and stick with it for life. It boost both HP and Stamina while increases your equip load
I'm still unsure what my main weapon should beTop up your health and other main stat that boosts your damage.Soodanim s advice is solid generally.
My DS1 dude is basically just a Pyro DEX still a few NGs in, taking advantage of those free pyro spells.
Need to beat it at least once. Also use some boss souls for weapons. Catch a few cheevos. Not really trying to 1000/1000 or anything.NG+ is a waste of time in all From Soft games. They're all best played raw unless you're hunting for achievements.
Its always been katanas for me. With DS2 I started rolling with the Fume UG once I beat Fume Knight, and Ive tried some other UGs out in the other games. But its mostly 95 % of the time katanas in some way.I'm still unsure what my main weapon should be
Which katana? What's the name of it and where ya get it? LolIts always been katanas for me. With DS2 I started rolling with the Fume UG once I beat Fume Knight, and Ive tried some other UGs out in the other games. But its mostly 95 % of the time katanas in some way.
In DS1 its Pyro DEX + the washing pole I think.
You can keep using the same weapon if you like it. You'll walk through the game in NG+. Sure, the enemies are beefed up, the thing is, the dramatic scaling only affects early game enemies. The Undead Burg enemies hit 4x as hard and have 5x as much health, but you have 10x as much health and hit 10x as hard, so they're relatively much weaker than you are. Late game enemies don't scale as much, so by the time you reach them and have leveled up some more, you'll surpass them by an even greater amount. You can literally run through NG+ without trouble. It's that easy.I'm still unsure what my main weapon should be
The Washing Pole, because of its length. Its way longer than the uchi and the chaos blade but with less damage. It pays off because you can hit mobs and bosses from further away. But the Chaos Blade is also great. Either that or the WP.Which katana? What's the name of it and where ya get it? Lol![]()
Didn't die in undead burg. But they def hit like a TRUCK. Beat the gargoyles and Taurus demon no issues. Even Capra. You can keep using the same weapon if you like it. Yeah. It's OP I've heard. Def gonna mess with it some. Power within. I may Have it. Does dude give it to me? I can Buy it from him?Go for pyromancies if you haven't already!
Barely any stat investments needed (except for some attunement) i.e you can still stay within meta level range for invasions, summons etc. All you need is tons of souls for upgrading and ascending the pyromancy flame!
I've barely touched pyromancies in DS1 outside of getting all of them for the platinum in DS Remastered but now in my PS3 version playthrough I've realized just how great pyromancies are. Power within alone is one hell of a spell.
Ahhh. Gotta join cat lady. Will do.The Washing Pole, because of its length. Its way longer than the uchi and the chaos blade but with less damage. It pays off because you can hit mobs and bosses from further away. But the Chaos Blade is also great. Either that or the WP.

The Washing Pole is sold by a vendor in Darkroot Garden.
You find it by that wall parasite thing in Blighttown, I think you need to go via the depths to get to it. The route really sucks but it's worth getting!Yeah. It's OP I've heard. Def gonna mess with it some. Power within. I may Have it. Does dude give it to me? I can Buy it from him?
I hope you've upgraded a good set of armor to max level. The Silver Knight Set is a great medium armor set. It looks good, has a decent weight, and great defenses.Didn't die in undead burg. But they def hit like a TRUCK. Beat the gargoyles and Taurus demon no issues. Even Capra.
Nothing yet. But willI hope you've upgraded a good set of armor to max level. The Silver Knight Set is a great medium armor set. It looks good, has a decent weight, and great defenses.
Ahh. The nasty thing spewing nonsense. Gotcha. Don't mind the route. Done it too many times for funsies. Although the backdoor is far better. I had assumed you had done that. You need to do this asap. Should have farmed the maneating clams in Crystal Caves for Twinkling Titanites.Nothing yet. But will
Yup, the toxic darts feel a bit cheap, I died a shitton on my current playthrough. A lot of it can probably be attributed to the constant frame drops in the PS3 version but I consider it one of the harder parts of the game in general due to the poor footing, toxic darts and confusing layoutAhh. Just began. Only beat gargoyles and Capra (Taurus too)I had assumed you had done that. You need to do this asap. Should have farmed the maneating clams in Crystal Caves for Twinkling Titanites.
Definitely a boss weapon - I still recommend Quelaag's!I'm still unsure what my main weapon should be
Do I not have the master key already? (from the original start) and yeah I got the ninja rolling key. I will be doing Boss weapons this run 100%Definitely a boss weapon - I still recommend Quelaag's!
Have you started NG+ yet? If not you may be able to get the Master Key before you start it by going to the merchant that moves from The Depths to Firelink (well, under the bridge tunnel that leads to Undead Burg). He also sells boss armour as you beat them - a choice for bulking up. The MK opens up so much of the early game. You can do entire areas backwards and even skip areas and bosses. The reason I keep harping on about it is it really lets you appreciate the level design when you have that much freedom. No other Souls game comes close.
Do you by any chance have the Dark Wood Grain Ring? If you're a light roller that's a good and fun thing to have, but it's not intuitive to get at all. Might be easier to follow a guide.
If you already have it then yeah you have it forever.Do I not have the master key already? (from the original start) and yeah I got the ninja rolling key. I will be doing Boss weapons this run 100%
Nice, will def give it a whirl! If you already have it then yeah you have it forever.
What you could do then if you want an optimised path to the boss weapon unlocks:
Firelink > New Londo > Valley of Drakes > Blighttown > Quelaag, ring bell > Valley again > Darkroot > Undead Parish > Gargoyles, ring bell > Sen's > Anor Londo > Blacksmith > boss weapons
Then you go whatever else in whatever order you want, maybe the New Londo thing I suggested or test out your new weapon on the areas and bosses you skipped.
