Yup I did the same. Slow mo juggling in mid air till the eventual face first crash onto concrete. Came out completely unscathed except a light scuff on the case itself. Amazing :)

Yes, good news for everyone.

Apple just made phone calls between iPhone users default to FaceTime audio in iOS 7 Beta 2, iMessage-style.

Hopefully Google will do the same this year.

That won't use a data stream though?

On a side note Chrome finally won me over. That Chrome beta really is legit, and for the 1st time I don't feel the urge to switch to something else after a few days of use.

?

Well, it's VoIP so of course it uses data. Like I said, iMessage style:

If both are iPhones and have data: FaceTime Voice
If not for either case: Regular Phone call

Hangouts is in dire need of a separate standard voice call option. As it stands now you can do a pseudo-voice only call, but there needs to be a proper one.

Someone at Google basically said, "It's coming." at I/O this year, didn't he?

If that's the case it's not coming soon enough.
Also my gf kept complaining about how you couldn't change background image from the standard grey because it was boring. So I guess that's another feature hah

I am now the owner of a Fonepad.

Back to aosp browser and quick controls. Bliss.

Performance wise.... Browsing seems fine. Apps definitely lag compared to my N4.

What can I say, for a hand me down it was a bargain!

Why would you want that? Most people have more than enough minutes and are more worried about using data.

1. VoIP barely uses any data.
2. Call quality is so much clearer on VoIP over cellular still, and I'm not holding my breath for VoLTE compatibility.
3. I actually only have 450 minutes (despite the fact that work pays for my cell? odd.), and most of my calls are with my GF or brother - who are both on iPhones.
4. Call quality. Call quality. Call quality.

I'm in the market for 10 inch tablets. What are good sites to view for upcoming Android hardware so I can see what is coming down the pike. Also, what is good on the market presently, thanks.

Yet, they failed to keep the promise that it would be "open"

It's no good, when half the phones in the world are running Android.

Don't get me wrong, I think Google is failing is some regards with Hangouts also.

Messing apps' popularities differ between regions of the world, so they will never be one true "standard" across the board.

This is why I think BBM will be huge!!

The fake one that came out a few days ago was downloaded over 100K in a few hours. I lot of more people are familiar with BBM than you would think.

iMessage /= FaceTime. Apple said they'd release FaceTime as a standard, which they of course haven't. iMessage was always a platform lockin item.

Also, BBM will only be huge in Thorsten Heins' mind.

The only reason I mentioned Facetime is because it's the technology behind the VoIP you mentioned:

FaceTime audio in iOS 7 Beta 2

Still no good when only Apple devices are using it.

Don't count BBM out.

"Hangouts are the future of Google Voice" makes me think they will.

I had a two bouncer on the Metra (steel grate floors). Somehow this minimal slim case kept the phone from any damage.

Fuck yo Otterboxes.

I'd pay him to stop his huge yeti ass from eating me fucker looks hungry as shit for human flesh.
Also that Note 2 looks like an S4 mini in his freakish hands

So has anyone gone through the trouble of the dumb-phone loophole with Verizon? I'm trying to figure this all out; I'm flip-flopping on the DNA because of the SD slot/low storage, which makes me hesitant to just give up on keeping my unlimited data. I barely use 2GBs anyway, so why bother? But I really don't feel like buying full price, or even spending $200 on a phone that will be left behind in a few months, knowing VZW. Part of me wants to wait for the HTC One, but specs wise it doesn't seem much different from the DNA? CPU perhaps, but knowing VZW, they will probably only release a 16GB model. Fucking hell, this is stressful.

Let's be real here, should I switch to ATT?

I'm too lazy to backtrack to find where you guys probably talked about it but what did people here think of the Ativ Q? I can't decide if it's offensive or actually pretty damn interesting.

AT&T is trash compared to Verizon, and in terms of sheer foresight and planning ahead you would do well to hang on to your unlimited data until Verizon pries it from your cold, dead hands. I didn't think I would use much data either but these days I average 10 GB a month on Verizon, and I don't even stream Netflix or Pandora or whatever!

Note 3 where :(

September/October timeframe.

Google needs to go ahead and roll out SMS integration for Hangouts if they want people to hop on it. A lot of iPhone and Android users don't want to have the hassle of making a GTalk account.

on android everyone already has a gtalk account. Every one of my friends with an iphone also already has a gmail account, because gmail is cool like that. It's google+ that scares the crap out of people, at least in my circles. Totally agree on the sms integration though

why hurry? so people can have some text messages disappear into the void like they do with iMessage?

I really liked it after seeing some hands-on videos. I hope the system speed in both OS keeps that good after loading the tablet with apps and things.

it just seems like something that's cool in theory, I mean why not have Android just...there, especially if it's easy to do so. But I have this weird feeling it will somehow end up shitty. Which is hard to tell from a bunch of short hands on videos.

Guess we'll see. But it's interesting.
