Android |OT7| Now With a Whole New Messaging System

Sweet gonna install 7.1 on the 6p when I get home. The le pro 3 for $300 is too good to pass up. Wont even boot that sucker until a custom ROM comes out there. Don't trust them not to put spyware on it.

Apparently the system! Support from the pixel is in the 7.1 update settings menu :O

Same. Downloading. The fingerprint gesture feature is supposed to be in the 5X/6P update ... kind of hyped for this feature.

Isn't that a hardware thing and not software?

Nvm its not but its not in this release

Lepro is ridiculous for $300. Custom stuff looks awful in that review above though.

Weird that they went back to 1080p after previous model was 1440p.

Got my Honor 8 in today. Really nice phone. Think it might win over the OP3. Camera is obviously a huge improvement and I like the slightly smaller size.

One thing that seems odd is that it gets kind of hot. Might have just been me installing a bunch of stuff, but will keep an eye on it.

Also sound through he headphone jack is great. Was a little bit of a worry.

Installed on my Pixel C and it's really damn snappy but as tablets go it's not really a massive update.

Still BS it doesn't get the Pixel software though.

seriously, ignoring the iOS devices and the Note 7, it's still not even top five released in and still available for sale Android devices in 2016 and it won't even be top six when the v20 drops.
You might want to go read those reviews again...
Or at least read all of them this time, instead of just the 3 that follow your agenda.
but they're all the same really, which reviews am i missing out on? when even Ron Amadeo can't hide his disappointment, what else is there really?

The Pixel smokes the V20 in battery and camera. Ruddock actually ran a V20 for a week dude. Not to mention the dogshit software and bootlooping track record.

Well those reviews basically praise the camera, good, and the usual stock Android stuff and... nothing else really, something already known and pixels don't seem to be substantially better than other flagships released 9+ months ago that are cheaper today so...

Well of course not, most revolutionary changes in smartphones have already happened. No one said it's the best value, just the best phone right now. If you want value there are plenty of options (where the camera won't be as good, battery might suffer, bloatware, etc.), but if you just want the best then the Pixel is now the choice.

I can't wait for the list to come out to requote this just to prove that you are just flat out and plain wrong.

any impressions of 7.1 on the 6P? Hesitant to install it on mine

I just installed it on my 6p and it feels really snappy.
-The quick shortcuts seem handy and should be good if developers support it.
-I also seem to have the Pixel support options for Phone/Chat, which is strange.
-If you press power there is an option to Restart. That will be quite useful (and much overdue).
-I don't see any fingerprint notification swiping options, unless I am completely blind to the settings of it.

It's honestly too soon to tell what the overall impressions will be. For me, the big thing will be battery life. I'll see what that looks like tomorrow. My 6p seemed to get worse battery life on 7.0 (even checking to make sure I didn't have the account syncing errors), so hopefully this may stabilize it again.

That value is pretty incredible. For reference here are the specs.
http://us.lemall.com/us/phone/leeco_le_pro3/index.html

LeEco Le Pro3 $400.
Snapdragon 821.
4GB RAM.
64GB Storage.
16MP/8MP Cameras.
5.5" Full HD Display.
4070mAh Battery with QC 3.0

Although no Headphone jack, or MicroSD Support.
No mention of the OS #, why don't these dam mid-tier makers just get some decent specs then toss stock on it so they don't have to waste money on making their own apps

I definitely agree. It's much smoother, but that could be a result of a fresh update maybe clearing cache etc.

Also, yeah, fingerprint gestures not present.

And, it's Android 7.1.1.

Installing 7.1.1 may have also given me access to the new camera app update, unless they released it for everyone today.

Yeah, I had a Camera update as well. Some of the Pixel camera updates are in it, or at least things that I thought were Pixel exclusive. It is the 4.2 update that was leaked a few days ago.

These are the update notes on the Play Store:

• For Nexus 5, 6, 9, 5X, and 6P: New user interface updates: Improved startup times, fast switching between photo and video mode, easy access to photo modes from top-left menu
• Nexus 6, 5X, and 6P only: Auto-HDR+ mode for enhanced shots in low-light and backlit scenes
• Nexus 5X and 6P: Slow motion video capture
• Nexus 6P only: SmartBurst

I don't like the phone dialer. They axed the large image for a smaller circle during incoming calls. Ew

Bobo and Osiris... Why are yall doing this? ⚰️

This exchange has me cackling!

I mean I said the same thing about water proofing but I was told that other flagship have it so that's why.... But some flagship don't get updates straight from Google which I find to be a big difference maker in the grand scheme of things. It's literally the reason I bought nexus every year opposed to whatever gimmick rich Samsung phone was out at the time regardless of how amazing and useless some of them where. I was willing to even give a pass on the crappy cameras for it... Why? Because my experience with Samsung has all been bad since the S3, TouchWiz got uglier ever year, and the Google i/O events reminds me that Android is better when not heavily skinned. So it's really not that hard to see. And on top of that, Google now >>>> Flipboard..

The only other phone that I bought outside the Nexus world was the Moto X and I loved that phone for a long time until the. I skipped on the Nexus 6 tho... That fat phone was just not for me at the time.

Under playing a LARGE reason why people have an issue with Android, is exactly why it's kind of a top difference maker. Especially if you are someone coming from and iPhone or someone who is tired of jump android to android phone, seeing these new features that's bring added to Android and you can't even use them because of some carrier restriction and or because your manufacturer passes on and moves on to the next. The update schedule needs to at least match the iPhone and that's really important for this phone and all Google phones moving forward.
Like waiting five years for multi window

Oh, and two years of support is not like Apple

Same here. I can't find night mode though.

Also this le pro 3 has me hyped. Unbelievable for $299. I can't wait to order one.
How the hell is jankiness autocorrected to manliness. 😐

I was going to pull the trigger on the pixelxl after all the great reviews. I think I'll wait now.

Le pro 3 has a beast battery, snapdragon 821, stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, and quick charge 3.0. it's basically the perfect phone if you flash a custom ROM and it's only $299. You can buy 3 of them for the same price as a pixel xl with 64gb of storage.

Vic

Please help me with my bad english
It's crazy to read online so many people having complains about the 6P. I've had nothing but an overwhelming positive experience with mine. It's been even better since I've installed Pure Nexus 7.0 and the ElementalX kernel this past weekend. This phone is a pleasure to use.

That annoying warning on split screen is gone yay
Burst actually works again
Everything is snappier
The hotspot shortcut doesn't work

For the people who have 7.1 on the 6P, I hope you can get back to us on here if the battery is back to what it should be.
Not to 6.0.1 levels but halfway to it on my end

3% per hour on 6.0.1
9% on 7.0
5-7% 7.1.1
No adaptive brightness on

Damn, the LePro (lol) 3 is really good value, and it'd be right up my alley if it had a headphone jack. Buttons in the wrong order are annoying, but I can get used to it. I can't fuck with a device that lacks the jack, though.

hmm guess I should get that 7.1 on as well
(but how do I root thereafter? ._.)

anyone on 7.0 with the 6P and still got the camera update?

After installing 7.1 reboot to recovery and reinstall twrp and supersu immediately before first boot.

After installing 7.1 a camera update will be available on store that will update it to Pixel camera.

You don't have to unroot if already rooted. Just install the update, reboot into recovery, reflash twrp, supersu, then reboot. That's how I did it earlier.
