Another big fail from the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy

It's sad that noone mentioned in the movie that the most sacred planet of all jedi, which every youngling has to visit to aquire his light Saber crystal during his training is actually Star Killer base.

So the Disney didn't want to mention that the most holy place of the Jedi got turned into a first order super weapon.

The planet is called Ilum.

You can Google it, it's true.

This just shows how Disney don't give a crap about the lore or the universe in general but please go watch our movies and TV shows, buy merch and CONSUME CONSUME CONSUME

Ok..? And you couldnt post that in the main topic? Why is that a big fail? I just don't see it.
Becuase it's not really related to ros?

Because outside of the movies Ilum is actually an important location. In the games, in the clone wars series, in the lore, etc..

It's like turning mecca into a concentration camp as a comparison

Is there an actual canon name for "the sacred Jedi texts" or did they go with that boring lame generic title Rian gave it in his first draft?

Legends
Ilum's secrecy was not to last. After scouring the Temple Archives on Coruscant, the Empire swiftly moved in to seize the planet. As part of Order 66, the 481st Legion was dispatched to the planet to eliminate any hiding Jedi and to secure the Temple. After the Empire was fully established, the 481st was replaced with a dedicated joint forces mission of the Imperial Navy and Army. Forming up a beachhead around the Temple and installing a giant metal door over its entrance, the army constantly monitored the facility while the Navy formed a blockade around the planet. Over time, research facilities and observation platforms were established and an entire garrison was situated there. Despite the Emperor's grave concerns for the planet's safety, more often than not the posting was used as a punishment or sort of exile for delinquent officers, rival captains, and a graveyard for derelict ships.

Cannon
After the Battle of Jakku, the Empire's remnants disappeared into the Unknown Regions and reorganized into the First Order. Ilum was chosen to begin development of the Starkiller project by the First Order, and over the 30 year period they continued the excavations started by the Empire, transforming the equatorial trench into Starkiller Base, with the planet's kyber crystalline core serving as the containment field for the Base's superweapon.

Either way, it ends up in the enemies hands? In the Legends EU the enemy capture it faster.

12 year olds are not dumb retards who can't cli t to ten though

Never said that, but they're more than likely not going to care about continuity as much as someone who appreciates it as they get older.

They'll look back and see how bad it is, but they're just in the for the theme park movie ride.

Spoilers for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order the video game.

It shows the Empire starting to conquer the planet, and it's done tastefully and makes sense. Play the game.

Of all the issues the movies have, this is not one of them. Stuff like that is background information that really has no major influence over the plot. It's nice to know interesting world building facts and makes Starkiller Base just a bit cooler, but the standard movie goer wouldn't care unless you made it a real plot thread with some sort of consequences

I don't get how this is bad from a story perspective. The bad guys take the the good guys' most important planet and turn it into a weapon to spite them. Sounds like a pretty inSidious thing to do, and one of the few things about the Sequels that isn't redundant and/or nonsense.

Thanks for bringing this up though now I'll like Force Awakens .01% more the next time I see it.

you can thank the Lucasfilm Story Group for keeping such a tight watch on the canon

The Lucasfilm Story Group began as an initiative from Kathleen Kennedy in 2012. Lucasfilm Vice President Kiri Hart helped form the group as its Development Lead, with the stated goal of abolishing the canon hierarchy system in favor of a single cohesive continuity. Lucasfilm Story Group—including Rayne Roberts, Carrie Beck, Diana Williams, Leland Chee, Pablo Hidalgo, and Matt Martin—participated in the making of Star Wars: The Old Republic: Galactic Starfighter, a digital expansion to the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, being mentioned in the ending credits.

a bunch of nobodies with nothing to show for it prior to their hiring, not experience in Star Wars, not even experience writing science fiction or fantasy. a bunch of producers more or less. at best they could cobble together an episode of Phineas & Ferb.

Pablo is the most experienced person here and he was just a guy hired in 2000 to make the SW website. rumors are that the story group was fired, so apparently they didn't even have these jackasses around to sign off on things anymore. no wonder it's a shitshow.

I didn't know this, and I think it's a cool link.. but also one that no one in TFA would even be aware of I don't think, so it makes sense it wasn't mentioned. Luke.. maybe, but we didn't get any words from him in TFA.

It would have been a cool establishing line by Hux or Kylo I guess, though I would guess this would be a perfect execution of "The EU" since it means something to people who've read/watched the EU but doesn't hurt/confuse the people who don't read/watch the EU. It's a very fine line.

With playing Fallen Order and knowing Ilum explodes at the end of ep.7, I'm left wondering how Rey built her lightsaber. I know in KOTOR the crystals were also on Dantooine but I don't have extensive knowledge on the EU.

The major argument I make for Rise of Skywalker is that while I enjoyed the content, it's an objectively poorly made film. If Abrams needs to immediately come out and clear the air on as a few examples, Finn having something to tell Rey, never explained, Rey and Ben kiss not being romantic, never explained, Lando and new black girl scene which we know was edited but supposed to indicate possible progeny, came across to me as an old dude hitting on a young chick.

Regardless if you like the film, if there's that many immediate questions following the film and they aren't even the biggest holes, THIS IS JUST A POORLY DEVELOPED MOVIE.

Counter that with Marvel, was there any loose ends from Infinity War to Endgame? Was there any big questions or plot holes by the end we demand an explanation from the creators? How in the hell was the Star Wars franchise so poorly managed in the cinema aspect versus the time and detail given to Marvel is just astounding to me.

At least half of those people probably use Twitter blocklists.

This is actually one of the major problems with the ST. To much story is pushed off to spin-offs and other forms of media.

How many games, comic books, etc etc do you have to buy to follow this trainwreck

That's still canon? I thought that was only a video game thing. I mean I've never seen a Jedi go to any special planet to make a light saber. It's just

A: They need a new light saber
B: Tada! They make a light saber

True but the PT was guilty of this.

The whole Clone Wars, a prominent event I thought we were going to see on screen was made only into a cartoon show and almost pushed aside in the movies.

My main gripe with the ST is how they threw out introducing any new prominent aliens. OT had Chewie, Jabba, Yoda, Ewoks.... PT had Jar Jar, Watto, Geonosians, Darth Maul, General Grevious.

What new prominent alien did we get in the ST other than Maz?

They omitted what made SW also feel like SW.

As I said before, guess they're more concerned now with diverse humans than diverse species.

KOTOR
KOTOR II
I
II
Republic Commando
Clone Wars
III
Fallen Order
Rogue One
IV
Masters of Teräs Käsi
V
TIE Fighter
VI
Jedi Knight
Mandalorian
Jedi Outcast

All the canon you need breh. Take it or leave it.

Fallen Order, as woke as it may be, is one of the good things out of all the Disney canon.

Putting KOTOR 1 and 2 at the top is spot on. It's an odd case of a Star Wars story that almost tops the OT. It's that fucking good.
