Another MLB pitcher suspended for gambling. (Emanuel Clase) And yet MLB continues promoting gambling websites.

Flashless at the Golden Globes
This is infuriating. Arguably the best closer in the game, was going be to traded for a massive prospect haul, and second Guardians pitcher to be caught gambling. This follows the Othani interpreter gambling scandal from last year that somehow cleared Othani of all wrongdoing. The interpreter is currently in jail.

I saw Yankees announcers open talk about fanduel gambling odds for the starting pitcher striking out 7+ hitters yesterday during the broadcast. I felt sick to my stomach. Why are you promoting fucking gambling? Every sports podcast now has a fanduel sponsorship. They already make billions of dollars, why risk your entire sport over a few million in sponsorships from these gambling degenerates? They are already all billionares. I fucking hate greed.

P.S The yankees hit two legendary homeruns against him last year after he posted a 0.6 era all of last season. Quite possibly the best single season closer performance of all time. No one could believe that he would meltdown in the postseason after that season. Now those homeruns are tainted.

I don't think it's crazy for a hard throwing closer to be wild on is first pitch. They usually catch this stuff because of betting volume.
Would love to know what did actually flag him because I don't see a pitcher here intentionally trying to miss the strike zone, I see pitcher with a confidence issue on a certain pitch and over cooking his pitch

Now its possible he is intentionally trying to throw a wild pitch but he isn't trying to just throw a ball here in those examples given, something else is up

Anyone who watches WWE needs to recuse themselves from this topic. You've got no business weighting in on the possibility that MLB could be rigged.

How would you know..... :)

I think the pro leagues are making too much money from the gambling sites, so they are not going to not intertwine. THE NFL encourages it. IT is part of the game now. Hard to encourage the fans to do and the players not to.

No telling how much goes under the radar as I have heard some stories

Many think Shohei Ohtani got away with it

They blamed it on the translator. I guess you could see the size of the bets to know if it's the translator or if he is acting as the surrogate.

Sports betting isn't fun for me because it's takes joy out of just watching.

Nobody is going to watch a sport long-term where the players are directly engaged in gambling. And they're definitely not going to bet on it. Come on. This is what killed horse racing and boxing over time - once the sports get seedy and gross then people start tuning out.

The NFL last year already looked rigged as hell to get the Chiefs to the Super Bowl.

Like I said, it is normally betting volume. All of the sudden prop bets on some weird thing shoot up. If all of the sudden you have millions of dollars flowing to props of a player that normally has no action (not like, Aaron Judge) then that raises suspicion.

I agree players gambling will kill the leagues.

Ippei the translator was making bets based on dollar amounts that were far far beyond what he could cover.

I guess the FBI's version of the story is that he was saying that he could get the money and the bookies knew he was Ohtani's guy. And he stole a bunch of Ohtani's money, although the money he stole in total was a fraction of his supposed losses.

I don't know. Something is weird but all the people who make a ton of moeny off Ohtani and MLB claim it was wrapped up nice and neat!

I never believed Ohtani's translator was a rogue agent.

How Ohtani didn't realize he was missing millions and millions from his accounts for years is total BS.
It's not BS necessarily, these guys are not money managers, they pay people to do it for them, they want to focus on their craft and need only a small fraction of the total for their day to day living.

gambling and bets been part of sports all the time. Big time in the nfl. It never going away and it nothing new. Just now they can sponsor. Mostly cause it's needed now. Sponsorship not that big a deal anymore. Tv viewers all time low
