Another Shining Example of Republican Family Values

back then:
Bush introduced Mike and Sharla Hintz, a couple from Clive, whom he said benefited from his tax plan.

Last year, because of the enhanced the child tax credit, they received an extra $1,600 in their tax refund, Bush said. With other tax cuts in the bill, they saved $2,800 on their income taxes.

They used the money to buy a wood-burning stove to more efficiently heat their home, made some home improvements and went on a vacation to Minnesota, the president said.

"Next year, maybe they'll want to come to Texas," Bush quipped.

Mike Hintz, a First Assembly of God youth pastor, said the tax cuts also gave him additional money to use for health care.

He said he supports Bush's values.

"The American people are starting to see what kind of leader President Bush is. People know where he stands," he said.

now:
A Des Moines youth pastor is charged with the sexual exploitation of a child.

KCCI learned that the married father of four recently turned himself in to Johnston police.

Rev. Mike Hintz was fired from the First Assembly of God Church, located at 2725 Merle Hay Road, on Oct. 30. Hintz was the youth pastor there for three years.

Police said he started an affair with a 17-year-old in the church youth group this spring.

every small example helps :)

Well well well..

I'm sure this could be turned around in many situations for the democratic side, but it is always more ironic when it is the Republicans, and even more so with this president. Good find.

Shame though really.

Exactly. The "moral voters" went Republican, and that's why these stories are so much better. Especially since Bush used this guy for campaigning purposes, and the guy sounded like he was repeating the Republican talking points of the campaign.

'Moral Voters' as in 'their' morals not 'our' morals voters ;)
I wish some hardline religious folk would actuall liste to what this paraphased bible quote says, 'Why bother with the splter in your neighbours eye when you have a log in your own' (too lazy to use Google).

What's wrong with having sexual relations with a consenting adult?
NM, I guess 17 is considered a minor.

Everytime I see your name, Hammy, I'm reminded of my psychopath ex-girlfriend (who's a big time republican, btw).

Her name was Miryam. Her friends nicknamed her ham or hammy.
Whenever I'd go with her to Denny's she say "Moons over my Hammy! My friends call my hammy and I don't even like Ham!!"

Too bad Mike's last name wasn't "Huntz". :lol I'm so funny!

Spike Spiegel said:
Our 42nd president certainly didn't seem to think so.
He wasn't busy promoting the "values" agenda or Bush either. Also, Monica was over 18 and legal! The lying was the boo boo.

Ancient: I think I'm becoming the liberal ripclaw. That may be a bad thing though. :lol

Curious as to why he turned himself in though.

Something must have happened, I would imagine, for him to just one day go ahead and turn himself in. Or does doing that sometimes give you a better chance of dodging charges or doing time?

a newer article states that
Hintz began a relationship with a 17-year-old girl, which the teen admitted to a counselor.

"The family had sought some counseling in the matter ... and the victim had made some admissions to a mandatory reporter, who, in turn, notified department of human services, who notified us," Johnston police Sgt. Lynn Aswegan told KCCI.
