Got home to play Dragon Age and there is another stinking update!! Game just came out a week ago and there is another 43gb update. WTF is this about. Half the time I go to play a game there is an update. My internet sucks, so no Dragon Age for me today. This is why I uninstalled Atomic Heart. Every week there was another full 90+gb update.

Edit: I understand that is the way it is now, but there needs to be limits on size and frequency, especially so close to launch and right after a day one update.

it wasnt 43gb. i just updated it on pc and it just prepared the data for a few minutes and it was done soon after that.

If it's a big update delete it and check for update again sometimes it's actually a lot smaller. Pretty sure psn can default to downloading the whole patch again instead of applying the new patch. I could be wrong though but it's always worth a try.

I thought you can just stop the patch from downloading and still play normally. It isn't a multiplayer game, I don't see how that wouldn't work.

Only way someone beats it in 13 hrs is if they're just rapid skipping all dialogue, cut-scenes and pretty much everything that's not the main objective on the easiest difficulty.

I doubt that's the sizes of the updates, sounds like that's the size of the files it's patching, with the actual patch being much smaller, one site reported the DAV patch is only 1GB in size.

In fairness, skipping all dialogue and cut scenes would objectively make the game leagues better, so perhaps that's what many people are doing to get their play time down?

There are people with shit internet all over the US. Particularly in places where there might be only one provider that isnt worried about having fast speed because they have no competition.

Shitty console wi-fi doesn't help. I usually get ~500mbps on my PC but rarely over 100-150mbps on my consoles in the same room.

I also still remember the promises of quick patching from having SSDs. Why download 43GB and replace the entire dataset when you could just download 1GB and patch the existing dataset? That part didn't exactly pan out.
