Any easy way to type accented characters into Firefox?

That would be a great idea for an extension...but I've been using the <ALT>+numeric code method for ages.

I have the typical ones memorized...especially ALT+0178 for the ² symbol that I use so often in solving physics problems on here. :)

so &eacute; &oacute; &aacute; etc

using high ascii characters (ALT+0###) is NOT preferable because those will only work with western character sets where that character appears at that ascii location. the HTML formatted characters should in theory work correctly with all character sets that support the style of letter. that is simply a rendering command for the browser regardless of the language (like &nbsp;)

edit - btw, this will work in any compliant browser. forgot which version of HTML compliance is needed but it should work with any 4+ browser.
