I just started watching Static about 2 weeks ago. For some reason I always thought it was gonna be some insulting 2nd-rate no-effort show with a bunch of slang and stereotyoes. It's actually kind of cool. Yeah it uses slang and features alot of "black/ethnic" characters. But it manages to come across as stylish unique and cool, rather than racist caricatures. And the part where he finds out his friends dad was a bigot was VERY cool. I didn't think modern cartoons had the balls to go there. Speaking as a young black guy who'll always love cartoons, this was something I was waiting for. Too bad I ignored it for so long.
And Batman Beyond? This might have been the most twisted/dark "kids" cartoon ever. Forget Batman and Superman before it, and JL after. This show had some seriously violent and disturbing scenarios. Like the guy who got his bones sucked out and had to be fed through a funnel. Or the one where a hunter is shown having his spine broken by a panther. And some of the implied(or not so implied) deaths/tortures were great.
WB needs to quit pussyfooting and put these(Tiny Toons and Animaniacs too) on DVD.
