Any really good games based on time travel?

Outside of the well known Chrono Trigger and Day of the Tentacle, are there any other good games out there based on traveling through time?

Shadow of Destiny was one I had a lot of fun with, but I know a lot of people don't like it.
i could say the same thing about that holographic Sega game, but now that i think about it, i didn't like it either.

Time Killers
Back To The Future 2/3 (NES)
Final Fantasy Legend III/SaGa III

... well, I dunno if you'd call those games good (they're actually pretty awful!) :lol

Sonic CD

I didn't like it, but I've never been big on Sonic.

There was some two-player arcade game involving a lot of time portals. Commando-esque. Time Runners?

TIme Pilot!

Timesplitters.

Day of the Tentacle is the best one I can think of.

Flashback bitches!!
There was time travel in Flashback? I admit I remember Another World more clearly, but in Another World you have been put on the, well, another world, not travelled through time.

This thread needs some Delphine Software love.

This was still back in the day when these adventure games came up original stories... :P While Day of the Tentacle is definately more humurous, I preferred this game overall (not too keen on the boxart though :P).

This is my game of choice. Basically you get murdered and get to go back in time and prevent it. it's really cool, check it out.

Is it a big spoiler that the game is about time travel?

I would think so. I don't think it mentions it on the game box or in ads, and some of the stuff that was seen in previews looked only like someone had teleporting or camouflage capabilities, not something that ultimately is tied to a very well-written story involving time shifts.

Oh well. I probably wouldn't have ever gotten around to playing it if I hadn't known it was about that, but now my interest is piqued.

Yu-No is an excellent Japanese graphical text adventure game on the PC and Saturn whereby time travel is the main gameplay engine. Basically your father disappeared years back and eventually among his things you find a letter and a portable time machine device thing. What made the game really really cool was that the time machine was actually a usable gameplay device even though it was a graphical text adventure. Basically what happens is you can use these orbs (limited quantity) to bookmark the game at any time, and as you play on, you can travel "back" in time to that bookmark to change things with knowledge you have already gained in the future. Really cool game and highly recommended if your Japanese is up to scratch. The game is LONG though, and there are a shitload of endings, which incidentally are more of "continued" endings since you can only get some from having already seen others, etc. Great concept, great art, awesome plot. :D

Incest plz.

[that's the other thing Yu-No is known for]

Tales of Phantasia (SNES/PSX/GBA) is an excellent game full of time travel, and even though it's JPN only, there's a translated SNES rom out there.

It's a very shitty translation, though. They completely altered the script in several portions of the game (including every single sexual comment/ swear word you find in the "translation" )

Timesplitters: Future Perfect.

Also, not a game about time travelling, but a great use of the concept through game play and story:

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Oh come on GAF, you disappoint me. How come nobody even thought to bring up.....

Ok so its not great, but seems like everyone was naming anything related to time travel =)

Well, The Legend of Zelda: The Oracle of Ages is a good game, although the time travelling in it is really just the same light world/dark world idea previously seen in Zelda games, for the most part.

Drat, Back to the Future 2 & 3 was already mentioned. That game deserves special note. I remember that game being ET-level in regard to, "What the heck is going on!?"

yeah it is (about time travel). sadly it is kind of the plot twist, or one of them, so sorry i potentially ruined that for you... but maybe it got you to plat the game now :)

Bummer. Ah forget it then.

:(

by the way, the game is freakin great, despite some pretty obvious and glaring flaws. should be cheap too. play it!
