Any really good games based on time travel?

yeah it is (about time travel). sadly it is kind of the plot twist, or one of them, so sorry i potentially ruined that for you... but maybe it got you to plat the game now :)

:(

by the way, the game is freakin great, despite some pretty obvious and glaring flaws. should be cheap too. play it!
No sweat, I highlighted the spoiler after all. :)

Maybe I'll take a look at the game sometime, but I swore after Xenogears that I would never suffer through particularly frustrating/unintuitive gameplay for the sake of a good story ever again. God, was that RPG a waste of time (mostly).

EDIT: Incidentally, Xenogears has elements of quasi-time travel itself.

Shadow of Destiny / Memories. (PS2/PC/XBOX).

Breakdown's
(Xbox) story was a real trip knowing nothing going into it. The gameplay was a mix of average and frustrating though.

I'd forgotten that the only real reason to go back in time is to shoot things.

for the record, i have no beefs with breakdowns gameplay. worked quite well IMO, especially the brawling. the games flaws were repetitive environments (some of which were just fucking ugly to boot) and repetitive bad guys.

Futurama. It's a decent game and very funny - well - if you like the show. Seriously!

The better answer is TimeSplitters, but that's been said.

Secret of Evermore! Highly underrated.

It had 4 mains areas. Prehistory, Ancient, Medievil and Future The first 3 zones were really well done with very moody ambient musical score by Jeremy Soule. What sunk the game from greatness was the last zone, Omnitopia, which is floating futuresitic city that is utterly devoid of imagination.

You motherfuckers left off Out of this World. You can all die a slow painful death.

OotW/Another World isn't really time travel, is it? It's been years since I played it, but I had the dictint impression back then of it being more of a dimensional rift type of thing.

Anyway, Future Wars. Awesome.

Yeah, now that you mention it you are probably right... ok... my vengence is stayed for the time being.

I see FnordChan already mentioned Trinity, so I have to kill him when he comes to visit Japan this summer. You're talking to someone whose .sig was TEMPUS EDAX RERUM for about 4 years.

There's a number of recent text adventures that involve time travel, actually ... it's much easier to deal with in text than graphics, I suppose. One of my favorites is Shrapnel, which is sort of a William Sleator/Faulkner crossover. I don't want to say too much about it, but it shows some of the fucking creepy side effects left in time travel's wake.

At also at that page is Photopia, a game which doesn't involve "time travel" but jumps around in time a lot. If you haven't played it yet, you need to go play it.

GO PLAY IT.

Timequest was also pretty good.

Shadow of Memories is a super excellent game in that it actually deals with some of the elements and paradoxes of time travel, not just "do something silly in the past to effect silly change in the future." (though there is some of that). Still, kudos to them for actually making bothering to make time travel more than a light world/dark world mechanic. The "secret" fifth ending in Shadow of Memories, that you can only get after the other four, is something else.

Umm there was Time Commando by Delphine Software. Was it any good? Dont remember as its been at least more than 7-8 years since I played it :/

I had a lot of fun with Back to the Future 2/3 for NES as a kid. Then again, I also had fun getting up at 6am on Saturday and watching that show where the guy shows you how to draw, so...whatever.

I'm pretty sure OOTW deals with a parallel universe rather than the future. Otherwise I would have mentioned it considering it's the best game ever.
