Any reports of Wiimotes flying through giant HDTVs?

So i thought "Gack, how can people be so dumb", and took my TV remote for some practice swings for Friday, NEARLY LOST THE DAMN THING

Gotta be careful.

No offense, but if you had broken your TV that way, it would have been the funniest story ever.

honestly i thought people were dumb too until last night. if i hadnt had my wrist strap on my TV wouldve been toast.

:lol :lol I still don't get how that can happen at all? I must have rubber-grip hands or something since I don't throw things around all the time.
don't take it personally, I'm just easily amused - I'll post pics of my destroyed TV when it happens to me :p

Or not rub vaseline all over their hands before playing.

Cue the Penny Arcade comic from last week. :) http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/11/29

Stupid people are amusing.

With al due respect to all the stupid people here of course.

I don't get why it goes flying in TENNIS. You don't throw the real racket in tennis, unless it's at the ground and walk of in a huff.

That's some class action waiting to happen right there.

Skimp a few pennies not including a more durable strap (the cotton tether should be reinforced with either metal or plastic)... it's gonna end up costing Nintendo more than just bad publicity.

Can someone confirm, what kind of TVs those are?
It just would add an incredible depth of hilariousness, if these were Sony-TVs :lol

yes, they usually use some nylon wire inside the cotton... at least in straps used on cellphones

using only cotton make the strap completely useless

:)

AT LEAST IT STILL HELD THE PICTURE! :lol

seriously though, isn't the wiistrap there to stave off such occurrences? I mean how hard are people swining the thing if it takes the wiitstrap clean off. ;p

We got our PAL machines in today and a member of staff set up their unit as a demo (ie to "demo" it to customers all day :D)

It took just 23 minutes before someone injured themselves by smashing their hand into a till, and then dropping the remote on the floor. tbh we were all more concerned about the controller :lol

OT but I can confirm that PAL Wiis will play GC games in 60Hz, and will play 60Hz-only games like the Zelda bundle
