Just wrapped up the series the other day. I actually started with S8, since I'm a fan of Boston Legal, then went back and started from S1. Like Boston Legal, it feels very detached from legal (or at least the reality of courtroom behavior) reality, but I still enjoyed it for the most part. It started to decline with the romantic dysfunction later on, and the character of Alan Shore is a real piece of sh*t in this. But I was sad to see it go. Don't understand why they didn't do a spin-off of Eugene as a judge. I get and enjoy the extension with BL, but Eugene's character was someone you could actually (mostly) get behind. Actually, something with the four characters - Eugene, Ellenor, Jamie and Jimmy -- would have been great. In some ways, minus the shittiness of Shore, that season was the best for me.

But, I do actually get it. It likely wasn't making the ratings they wanted. It's just a shame, though. Wish they could have stayed for a longer haul. Maybe bring it in closer to legal reality, but with the same emotional tenor -- nothing too serious. Could show how Ellenor makes her way back into law; cases where Jimmy and Jamie have to appear before Eugene, etc.

'Tis a shame.

Need a new show! Bad...

Put in the practice but if you aren't excellent with minimal effort then don't bother and try a different hobby/interest is what I say. Essentially if at first you don't succeed, then don't try again.

By not constantly pushing yourself to achieve unattainable goals, you conserve your energy and avoid mental and physical exhaustion.

Quitting and trying something else means you explore new things and increase your chance to discover hidden talents. The one thing you instantly fall in love with and are good at.

Letting go of the pressure to succeed reduces stress and anxiety, creating a more peaceful state of mind.

Recognize your limits without viewing failure as a personal shortcoming. There's always something else you can be naturally good at. Stepping back allows you to focus on what truly matters and approach life with a healthier mindset.

I watched them when they originally aired and again when I got them on video. I remembered liking Boston Legal more than the Practice (this was when I was in college and started my career), but as I’ve gotten older I have preferred the Practice. I think I prefer the more serious tone of the Practice overall. Either way, they are both really good and others should watch them if they are being streamed somewhere.

My wife used to watch this and I saw few episodes and from that what I got was the main character's gf/wife character was one crazy vindictive bitch. I loved BL though and thought this would be similar as it was it's prequel kind of but found it to be a regular serious law drama so lost interest.

I was a fan.
I forgot when I stopped watching.
A perusal of IMDB's episode summaries tells me that I saw the first few episodes of season 7, but I don't recognize the rest of that season.
I don't remember suddenly disliking the show, so it must have been other life factors that got in the way.
Well written show, good legal drama.

I always wanted to watch this back then because I was HUGELY into Boston Legal, but couldn't find it, since generally speaking it was harder to find obscure shit to pirate in like 2006.

Thanks for bringing this up OP, I'll make a note to finally catch up with that.

Yeah, embarrassingly, I went back and restarted. :messenger_grinning_smiling: I am also doing ER, but that show, for whatever reason, seems to weigh heavier on my psyche. The Practice almost feels like a live-action graphic novel, which I dig. But beware that, like Boston Legal, it can get ridiculous -- sometimes in hilarious ways, other times close to making you wanna give up on the series.
