Yes I took today off of work but had a few mandatory conflicts. So Now I'm online for work but not doing any work.

Daily. The point at which I gave up on the job I was doing when I joined Gaf was when I logged in on my work computer and just had it open on a tab all day.

It’s a problem. I need to put the phone down, and that’s the end of it at work.

I can’t just log into Gaf for one post. It leads to another. It leads to notifications that I check. That leads to more posts. Quotes. More posts.

Before I know it, a half hour has disappeared and I’m having fun/dealing with a dozen different people in different threads.

Dual screens and tasks that require waits in between e.g. code compiling, file transfers, skype/email chats etc. It's bliss to run micro tasks next to each other and still get personal time and work done.

I just want to add another notification to distract you.

Mostly browsing GAF as well on work. Since the shutdown this week hit Europe workload has went down significantly so I kinda struggle to fill the time.

Next week home office again. Then I'll game on PS4 with laptop and phone right next to me. :messenger_sunglasses:

I have a good deal of downtime in work so I check this place out on my phone due to most of my downtime occurring when I'm on site. Like now, for example. I'm waiting on guys removing an asbestos panel from a fireplace before I go in and give it the once over before running an air test. Which will then lead to more downtime while I'm waiting on the pump running.

Downtime.

Yes, I get a fair bit of downtime at work and even when I don't a quarter of my screen is reserved for browsing, even while working on stuff I get a lot of downtime between tasks, here's my monitor

I surf on breaks but have heavy security in my job and can't take the phone to my office.

When I hit a block or don't know how to tackle a project, I'll spend more time than I should browsing Gaf, Youtube and so on...

I want to say it helps (and it does sometimes, when I need to solve a complex problem or have a new idea), but mostly it sucks my time and add to the guilt of not doing what I'm supposed to do.

I hate this guilt, I wish I could be one of those guys that can simply sit down and do what he's supposed to do... I know people like that, they work like a clock all the time, I just can't...

I go from great focus to zero focus, all it takes is an "insecurity" in what I'm doing.

Had a qualifications test today, assumed it was in the late afternoon, browsed GAF for election horseshit during the whole reading like yesterday, pimped in with a few solid zingers, had a laden gin tonic at lunch and wanted to coast through the rest of the lecture.
Zap, test is right after lunch. Bumbled my way through it, noticed a page missing in my test while going over answers during the last 10 minutes, got the last page with 6 hefty questions and a lot to write and turned it in at the bell.

Nailed it without having to revise and my attitude got rewarded again, goddammit.

So yes, GAF all week and you'll be fine.

Usually happens to me even at the office. I have to put headphones on and blast music to get focused enough to hone in on my work sometimes. Otherwise GAF is always nagging me in the back of my mind.

I felt like that too... got through school and college with very decent grades while barely studying. I felt really good, like I was very capable and intelligent, "minumum effort will do"... bunch of people studying like hell and yet my grades were similar or better.

But then comes work and the reality check... it's all fun and games until you're the one responsible for putting food on the table, lol...

So now, when I see the people that can organize their days and simply do what they need to do, I feel like I'm not fit for this... I can't work like this, I can't organize my time properly and do what I need to do at the time that I need to do it. It feels like I never have time to do anything... it sucks, man.

My first job was at a bank (back-office) and I had nothing to do so I would just read gaf most of the day. It was an open office and everyone could see me doing it lol. I didn't even had an account back then, evilore used to take way too long to approve new registrations.

I have mastered the art of over estimating to my boss how long it will take to finish a task, he believes me and accepts it (because it is still faster than anyone else in our team) so I finish said task quickly and spend the rest either on GAF or playing BOTW.

All the time man. But I'm privileged in that I work with robots and fully automated lines doing all the work for me, so that gives me plenty of time to browse GAF without feeling overwhelmed by increased work load for doing so.

Only always. But seriously I’m barely working right now. Normally at full economy I’d be working as much as I wanted pretty much and things like forums I’ll use less, and of course all the lovable scamps here bring me back.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
Not sure yet, I could if I want to but feel like i’ll go crazy if I retired.
I’m still way too young and just fucking around all day is fun but I get bored easy.
For now I’m enjoying my time off.
Good stuff. I am trying to go for that early retirement too. The last couple swings in the market helped me get closer, but we are talking kids with my girlfriend, and I feel that dream slipping away.

I don’t want to bore you with my life story but I started a business at very young age, busted my ass regularly working 100+ hours a week and it took off and sold before covid .With some luck, skill and hard work everybody can do it if your committed or crazy enough.
