Now I'm fully expecting to get slammed for saying this, but I won't hide any longer.

I still enjoy watching reruns of Friends.

Is there anyone else here that watches/watched the show, or am I completely alone here and setting myself up to get slammed?

I watched barely any Friends in my life (considering how long it ran for), but my favorite scene has always been when what's-his-face (the dumbfuck guy) was on a date with a girl who kept trying to eat his food, and he kept getting pissed off. But she ordered something really tasty looking for desert and wouldn't let him have any. She left the table, he caved in and ate all her shit, and when she came back he just had this satisfied look on his face and said "...I'm not even sorry!" ha ha.

It was pretty funny for the first 4 seasons or so, but then everyone started playing exaggerated versions of their characters, they broke up Joey and Chandler, kept doing the circle-jerk of Ross and Rachel, and pussified Chandler.

Edit: To be fair, of the few later episodes I watched, I did like the Joey character a lot more.

I thought one of the funniest things on there was Chandler going all the way to Yemen just to convince that annoying-ass Janice chick that he was actually moving away and couldn't be with her.

"So let me make sure I've got your address right. 100 Yemen Rd, Yemen City, Yemen, right?"
"uhh... yup."

I like the show a lot. Still watches the reruns, which is odd since I have most of them on dvds.

My favorite episode is the one with the cheesecakes.

Love it. Watched it all the time during the first run eps, and I still watch the reruns a lot now. I even want the DVDs, though I'll probably never buy them.

Ross rocks.

I really do think the first few seasons had some great writing/acting. It was a genuinely funny show. It didn't need the laugh track.

But then each character became a caricature of itself. The writing just became hackneyed and lazy.

Really, is Frasier the only good sitcom, ever, to not suffer a steep decline? (this is my opinion, of course -- you may feel it did drop in quality)

I actually thought it went up in quality, 'till the last couple seasons that is. The show had very solid comedy writing for what it was, IMO, which made the more outlandish stuff pretty fun to watch.

I don't take televisions serials in general too seriously though, much like certain types of moves I really just go in looking to enjoy what satasfies on the very top. Doesn't always have to be brillaintly written on the whole or invoke any deeper meaning to provide what it's designed to do; deliver cheap laughs with no strings attached.

I dunno if I dislike or enjoy the antics of Ross. All I know for sure is that I loved that silly turkey sandwich episode.

Indeed. I kid you not, I did not watch TV at all until two years ago when I caught some Friends re-runs on TBS. It got me hooked, and I watched the first 5-6 seasons in a couple months. The show was genuinely funny in the first half of the series.

also wanted to do the one where joey had a turkey on his head.

and I actually think Ross became the funniest character on the show by the time it was over. The talent level that David Schwimmer had to use in order to portray that character was actaully really high near the end of the show.

Dude, you totally took the words right out of my mouth, the show went downhill after the Ross and Emily wedding.

Exactly. After that Matthew Perry got fat and unfunny, and the show lost most of its humor.

That episode was awesome.

Ross: It was no big deal. We-we…said that the rumor was…that umm…you had both…male and female reproductive parts.
Rachel: What?!
Will: That's right! We said your parents flipped a coin, decided to raise you as a girl, but you still had a hint of a penis.

That was actually my favourite recent episode. It almost seems like the writers were inspired by having Brad Pitt guest star.

_ _ _ _ _ _

Will: Look at her standing there will those yams. My two greatest enemies, Ross. Rachel Green and complex carbohydrates.

...

Rachel: Hi! Will, right?
Will: Right.
Rachel: Right. Hi, I'm Rachel Green.
Will: Oh, I remember you.
Rachel: Really? Aren't you sweet. I gotta tell you, though. I'm having the hardest time placing you. Oh, oh, hang on, I think I remember you. Did we fool around at Lance Davis's graduation party?
Will: You are unbelievable.
Rachel: Thank you.

...

Ross: We... we said that the rumor was that, um, you had both male and female reproductive parts.
Rachel: What?
Will: That's right. We said your parents flipped a coin, decided to raise you as a girl, but you still had a hint of a penis.
Monica: You started that?
Rachel: What, you heard that?
Monica: Well, everyone in our school heard it.
Chandler: Everyone in my school heard it. You were the hermaphrodite cheerleader from Long Island?

:lol :lol

To be fair, the later seasons had their moments. But more often than not it just wasn't fun to watch, unless you still managed to invest yourself in the characters.

The best finish of that quote about the teenie-weenie was:
Rachel: Well why didn't you tell me?!
Monica: Because I was afraid you might get upset and want to show it to me.

also, the episodes with Eddie were awesome. The way they got rid of him was a scream.

Chandler: "If you lived here, I uh, I think I'd remember."
Eddie: "...wow. Yeah, I uhh.... I guess you're right. Wow. I'm sorry."

FRIENDS ROCKS.

ROSS ROCKS.

His facial expressions are golden. David Schwimmer is an excellent actor. Watching him in band of brothers came as quite the shock.

I liked it until they started hooking up all the characters. It just seemed to get dumber after chandler and monica got together.

Edmonton's milkshake attracts no boys.
Yeh the early freidns seasons were hilarious, while the newer ones were not so good. I did'nt like the drastic turn Ross's character made.. before he was the serious one, then they turned him into the goofy one.

Joey: Aw, man. He took the five of spades.

Joey: No, here it is.

It's a great show, for me it's on the border of being a classic but not quite. The first season is pretty average and the last couple have some bad parts but overall great show.

I like Ross the best too, at first I was big on Joey but his jokes can be a bit predictable but anytime Ross wasn't involved in some stupid relationship he was awsome and clever. Some of my Favorites: Ross's Rage, Alec Baldwin's super positive guy, Ross on the Keyboard, Rachel trying to ask that guy out but ends up giving him both tickets, Joey and the purse/mans bag, Monica's boyfriend trying to conquer the physical world by becoming an Ultimate Fighter.

Why is there no Phoebe love. Lisa Kudrow will kick all you asses.

I don't think I've ever watched a truly bad episode of Friends. There was always a few good jokes and gags in there, even if the rest of the episode wasn't a classic.

I think that had to be one of, if not, my favorite episode.

I also loved the one where they all went to Bermuda, and Monica's hair was all Frizzy...

I liked when Chandler got that new Psycho roomate, Eddie.

The one where ross was stuck in that girls bathroom with the leather pants and Joey was telling him all the shit to use to get them back up.

Oh, and a classic Joey Moment was when he put 2 & 2 together and figured out that Monica and Chandler were an Item, and then they realized that he knew, that had me rolling...

I have all 9 seasons so far on DVD and the series finale, which I thought they handled very well...

I use to watch the show in first runs. The first five seasons or so were great, the next two or three were not bad, then it went down hill. By the final episode, I was just ready for it to all be over.

As for the re-runs, I'll watch them from time to time, but they don't have the re-watch-ability of say the Seinfeld shows. Far better imho.

I think I've seen them all since my brother owns the 8 seasons released on DVD.

It's a pretty good sitcom. My brother watches them very often though, I think he's seen them like 5 times each and now he started watching them in spanish :lol

They are up to Season 9 on DVD. Should let your bro know...

My favorite episode was the one when Joey had the hernia. The whole episode was outstanding, but I was dying when he was doing the "surprise" commercial w/ his "son."

First he's all intense saying his line since the hernia is really bothering him. The director cuts and says he has to be more cheerful. Then he sticks his hand in his pants, groans in relief while keeping his hand there, and says the line again "Heeeeeeeyy Timmy... I've got a surprise for youuuuu." Priceless.

BTW, I didn't watch Friends until it got syndicated since I just assumed it was stupid. Once I gave it a chance, it became one of my favorite sitcoms. I still watch the reruns when I can and I have the first 8 seasons on DVD.

My favorite Friends exchange:

(upon losing Ross's baby, and being at the police station trying to figure out which of the two babies is Ross's, one dressed in a ducks outfit, one in a clown)

Joey: We'll flip for it.
Chandler: Oh, we're gonna flip for the baby?!
Joey: You have a better idea?
Chandler: Okay, call it in the air.
Joey: Heads
Chandler: Heads it is.
Joey: Yeeesss... whooo.
(pause)
Chandler: We have to assign heads to someone!
Joey: Okay okay, ducks is heads because ducks have heads.
(another pause)
Chandler: What kind of scary ass clowns came to your birthday?

Well, you're wrong. You and Alex.... listen, not enjoying something doesn't necessitate 'taking it too seriously'. I don't know why you'd say that, besides being offended.

We simply have more discerning taste than you. :)

Exactly.

The show was absolutely golden during its first few years. And though it had its times in the later seasons, it kinda turned into predictable soap opera. I hate how they resorted to cheap jokes like Monica being a neatfreak (that was near non-existent the first few seasons). I also hate how they made characters act outside their um, characters just to stir up some drama (Emily turning into a crazy bitch after marrying Ross, Joey lusting over Rachael, etc.)

The show really was brilliant the first few seasons - a lot of it had to do with the whole guys vs. girls thing, particularly the bond between Chandler and Joey. Once Chandler moved next door, it went pretty downhill.

Still, Friends ranks up there as one of the best sitcoms imo, albeit a notch below Seinfeld and Frasier.
Damnit...stupid reality TV nowadays..

Haha, mine too, the expression on Chandler's face in that pause before the last line is priceless!!!

Friends was a great show and I love watching the reruns. Anything except post-season 2 and Rachel/Joey love-affair shows. Those were horrible. And the last two seasons as a whole were "bleh."

I think this was the funniest moment in season 10, and it was through the credits.

My favorite comedy show of all time(although if Family Guy runs long enough it may take over). I have them all on DVD and I love every episode.

My favorite episode is the one where Chandler says something sarcastic, Phoebe says something wierd, Rachel sleeps with like 8 different guys, and Joey goes "How you doin?".

Dude, was that the one where Joey ate some food, too? Oh-oh-oh... and Ross did that thing with his hands and nervously laughed in a high pitched voice while making that weird face?!

THAT FUCKIN OWNED!!!!
