Anyone else re-enroll in school?

Good luck OP!

Going full time for the first time in years this Fall. But unlike my previous years, I'm actually looking forward to school partly because I actually know what I want to major in. In the meantime I'm going to work my ass off to save up some dough and will be going through the Khan Academy Trig course to get a head start on my class.

I'm 25 and I'm thinking if I should go back as well. I've been working full time for the past 2-3 years since I dropped out. My only question is when I go back this fall, I'll be 25 and wouldn't that be old and wouldn't I be getting awkward stares? I don't know. Like everyone there will either be in their early 20's or 19 / 18.

Nope. At 25 you probably wouldn't look that much different compared most students even the Freshmen. In Community College you'll find plenty of 30+ students, and in those University classrooms with 500+ students you'll definitely won't stand out.

Was going to make a nasty comment but will hold back since you may not be one of the many horrible NYPD officers that enjoy violating people's lives with impunity. Good luck maybe you can convince any egotistical power hungry failed football players in the nypd to do the same.
Jesus man.

Edit: oh

I'm about to go back for my masters but it's only been a year since my undergraduate.

who cares if people stare at you, its not like you are the 40 year old divorced mother that you always see in art schools. You are there to get a degree, not go drinking with your classmates after class. Hopefully you got that out of the way the 1st time you went through school.

I'm 30, have worked a full-time day job in software development for the past 8 years, and am just 5 weeks into starting to get a degree for CS. Holy crap does it have me feeling exhausted! It's a no-brainer for me in the grand scheme of things though.

I quit the University of Florida as a Poli Sci major back in 2006 (after changing majors a few times). Got back in recently as a Computer Engineering student and have been doing it full time along with work full time. It's a lot, and has been a bitch to work around my schedule (luckily my boss has been ok with me using extended lunch breaks to go to class), but it's very doable. I'm also doing it with a wife and daughter.

I can tell you from my experience that just the rush of actually being in school and getting rid of that treading water feeling has made the whole thing worth it.

I plan to to get a degree in a business related field.

I got a question though to all of you that went back to school later in their life, was it hard making friends or getting along with the other students knowing your age and the difference?

Check the demographics of the school you are thinking of attending, you might be surprised.

At my school, the "25 and over" is the largest age group of students.

I went back at 22 and it was never a problem. It was just as easy to make friends. No one will stare at 25. I had a guy who was 60+ in a couple of my classes, no one cared.

My personal experience is that it was the best decision I've ever made. I'm totally into my field now and am starting my PhD this fall. Don't let something like age prevent you from doing what you want to do.

Hey everyone!

Made a very nerve racking decision and registered for Rutgers University today after stepping out. I joined the NYPD a couple of years ago have a family and now think it's a good idea to finish my degree up.

Anyone else register and do it later on in life with a family and career ...is it too much to handle?

How many classes do you need? I would limit it to one per semester.

I have a B.A. with concentration in English Literature. In Ontario Canada this is a three year degree. I tried to finish my honours year, part time. I found that one course per semester is plenty. (never finished the honours year, only wanted it in case I wanted to pursue a graduate degree. After working full-time I realised that I would rather keep working than do grad work).
