Anyone else unable to sell older classic games?

Wellington

BAAAALLLINNN'
Like probably everyone else on this forum, I've got a couple of games that are (probably) worth a pretty penny. Actually, I bought them assuming that some day they would be worth a good amount and I can sell them to make some money. But I have come to the realization that I will never have time to play these classic games let alone want to play them again, and on top of that, unlike real estate, games depreciate in value over time.

Basically, I am considering selling my saturn collection which includes the likes of the Panzer Dragoon series, Guardian Heroes, Dragon Force, Burning Rangers, and a couple of others for the Saturn and a handful of harder to find PSX titles, but I just can't bring myself to do it! I know it would fetch me a good couple of bucks, but everytime I think about listing it on ebay, I hold back because I *may* at some point want to play these games again. As a collector, it's understood that at some point you will have to part with your collection, but has anyone actually done it and not had sellers remorse?

I mean I could use the extra closet space. :( Any tips? :(

i packed just about everything away into "The cupboard of death"

i have a strong urge to just get rid of everything.

My other half is talking me out of doing this at the moment, but it's only a matter of time.

"Bye bye REZ! "

*sharpens knife*

I feel the same way. I don't really want to sell anything at all right now. But I don't think I would be able to do it even if I needed to. I've done it once before and it took me too long to get everything back.
Heck I bought Panzer Dragoon Saga off Ebay about 4 years ago and I still haven't played it yet. There is no way it's going anywhere.

I'm the same. Problem is, I fear I won't get half as much as I expect for them, which would be heartbreaking. "This game meant a lot to me 5 years ago, but you're only going to give me 100 yen for it... bastard!" But I have a stupid number of games I will obviously never touch again.

I've got a beautiful copy of A Link In Time in it's box, great condition, with the manual, N intendo Power ads, and the sealed secrets booklet- completely unmolested.

How much would that go for, do you think?

some one tried to trade in their near mint copy of Yoshi's Island yesterday. It killed me a little inside knowing I couldn't accept it as a trade in so I could buy it later.

Yeah, I only got $200 for Radiant Silvergun back in 2002 and am still pissed about it (cuz I loved that game so much and I really needed the cash at the time since I was out of work).

Yeah, since you'll never be able to sell them... give 'em to me. :)

As a collector who can't bear to part with any of his Atari 2600 Combats, I know how tough that decision can be. Well, I can imagine how hard it would be, since I've never made it myself. For space issues however, the best thing to do is pack them away so that they won't get damaged and take as little space as possible. If you do ever decide to get rid of them, make sure you can emulate them after they're gone... well, don't do that, since that'd be illegal, but if it weren't, that's what I'd do...

I recently sold alot of 2D fighters and shmups from my PS1, SNES & Genesis collections, some were rare like Guilty Gear, Darkstalkers 3, Raystorm, Thunderforce V, MD Gaiares, but I've had no regrets, absolutely none at all

I regret trading Suikoden II a year after it released and then discovering Ebay and the large conglomerate of Suiko-nuts who would easily drop $60 on it two years later. I always wonder if I should try selling this boxed copy of Final Fantasy 3 that I got a mom and pop rental place though (everything's in it except the map, and the instructions are missing staples)

Why didn't you give the guy money out of your own pocket? I'm sure if your boss would understand and allow it since it really doesn't hurt your numbers.

This is how I got Earthboundt($10), an extra copy of Final Fantasy II with a manual($5), a Sega Nomad($10), Adventure Island II($3), and a 32X(free).

As for selling games, I can never do it, unless I have doubles, or if its a game I don't like and I bought it for the sole purpose of sewlling it.

People actually agreed to those prices?

I had about 250 loose NES games in San Francisco for the longest time. Never played them but couldn't sell them.

Finally I took them to last year's Classic Gaming Expo, sold/traded them in the dealers' room, and made enough cash such that I didn't have to go to the ATM for months afterward.

I'd say that was worth it, definitely.

Really, though, free is almost too much to pay for a 32x. If I were you, I would've charged a hauling fee.

Yeah. They seemed happy to get any money for them. I would've given some of the people more, but I never had much cash on me.

:lol

Half of me wants to collect all my favorite games because they're so damn good and I *may* play them again some day down the road or let others enjoy them and half of me wants to sell all my games that are just sitting on the shelf unused before they lose too much value:(

When the game sucks or something, I'm not afraid to sell it. But sometimes I feel VERY ashamed that I sold the game. Batman Returns? Battletoads for the Gameboy? Why did I sell those two!?? WHYYY!!

The only game I currently have that has any resale value that I would be challenged to part ways with is Radiant Silvergun. It's a shooter that caters to my weaksauce ass.

Selling is a tricky trick. Collectors are fickle beasts, and what's worth over $100 today, could be $20 next week.

Cash in Welly! Cash in!

I'm trying to recall the mantra of the M.I.T. Blackjack team. . . :P
