Anyone ever came up with a presentation the morning of class and minus your partner?

...and come out of it GREAT? The story:

Last night I realized that today I had a presentation in class, with a guy who I have no contact information on. I got on the university website and found his e-mail address, but I had little hope it would reach him in time.

With little hope for success, I awoke today and put together what I thought to be about half of the presentation, went to the copy center and made a few transparencies and showed up to class about 20 minutes early, hoping he'd do the same so we could get it all together. While sitting outside the class, one of the cute girls (English classes are always loaded with ladies...) from class sat down next to me and we chatted it up a bit. A good omen?

Anyway, my partner shows up 5 minutes before class and thankfully he's also somewhat prepared, and made handouts for everyone. So we split up the presentation and go in there basically winging it. We also have to lead the class in discussion for another 5-10 minutes after our presentation.

It went GREAT! I couldn't believe it. Usually for a presentation like this I have to be much better prepared than that, especially when doing it with a partner. Fortunately we both had enough unique material to cover each other, and the teacher loved it. She had the class applaud us TWICE. I tried my best to keep a straight face like I deserved it. Oh, and the cute girl tried to help out by getting involved in the discussion. Bonus points baby.

Last thing: I got my test back in that class and what do you know? 100/100 on it. Today looked grim, ended up awesome. Boo. Yizzy.

Whenever I could, I avoided having to put up with partners. I ended up doing presentations alone.

Even at that, if I had say 7 minutes, after 20 minutes I would still speak with passion, but at some point, I had to nearly get kicked out of the class. Such found memories. :lol

I always enjoyed speaking in public, I dunno why nearly all students fear it. I always found ways to fit the subject to something I liked, and I got nearly purrfect grades all the time. I'd love to do this as a job someday. :)

But did you get a date... or any trim out of the deal?

There's definitely potential with the girl, and I'd get back to you on the date thing if it didn't make me look like olimario.

That's crazy. I'm doing a presentation tomorrow morning on fascism for my Ideologies class. There's five of us, which can cause disorganization, but we get along so well that it hasn't been a problem. We're prepared so well, but I really doubt that this teacher will give us a perfect mark regardless of how well we do.

We've got propoganda flyers, posters of our 'heroes' - Hitler, Mussolini, Bush :)lol), and Saddam - and all our points nicely arranged on PowerPoint. Each person is doing a particular part and it's all going to be concluded by our 'Great Leader', one of the guys in our group. Everyone else is wearing black shirts (a la the Italian fascists) and will be constantly applauding him. We've even got a poster of him where his head (cropped out of a photograph) is on a background of clouds. We're pretty animated in class so people have been saying how they're looking forward to it. We'll probably disappoint, but it's going to be fun. :)

Dude, MAF made a thread for this post :p. Good work on the project, man. You lucked out that your partner wasn't a slacker, and so did he.

you? verbose? I don't believe it.

I remeber when I was in a group project in history, since in Highschool you never get through the whole book our teacher divided us into a few groups to cover the 70's, 80's and most of the 90's (it was 1999). I was in the 80's group, and though our presentation was pretty solid, it was what we did at the end that made it great.

After all was said and done, we asked if the class could bear with us for a moment, one of the group left the class and came back dressed as the teacher, we then as a group proceeded to rost our teacher, I'll save the details since all the jokes would only be funny if you had been in that class. The class loved it, and we all got an A+.

Sometimes it's the "spontaneous" things that make a presentation the most enjoyable, unless you're Bill Gates being interviewed by Conan O'Brien.

heh that's pretty cool. I personally hate presentations, and if it's possible I'd skip them and try to make up the points I lost with the midterms/quizzes/other stuff. >_>

What was the presentation about if you don't mind me asking? :p

I have to do this tomorrow. I hate presentations though. I just can't shake the nerves that bottle up right before. Makes me forget, act unnatural, etc. I think it's cause I can never really put into perspective what I'm doing. Just talking to the class about something I know and they don't. But anyway, tomorrow we have 4 of us, and I only know one thing we'll have ready. It's a 15 minute presentation too, so I just told everyone we're going hardcore, and not going back to our seats for 15 no matter what. What we do have is a video, a skit like they'd do on Leno or Conan where we ask what's in a fast food joints meat. So we went to Burger King today, me and 1 partner, got a bunch of people involved, and made a video. Basically asking if they know what's in the meat, and then raid the backroom at BK. Most of the people are young workers who didn't care. So we got us stealing chicken nuggets and while going nuts. Then everyone's askled if they think are teachers hot, which she is, and everybody just says "yeah, she's real hot, I'd do her". But yeah, I have to figure the actual facts and keep it on track tomorrow.

On the bright side, I did play a wonderful sexually confused pirate waiter in a health class skit today, good omen?
