There's a new Korean buffet in Houston, and it absolutely slaps

Dookki opened along Bellaire Boulevard in Asiatown earlier this month, offering a unique experience for lovers of Korean street food and tteobokki.

Its an international Korean tteokbooki buffet chain and it just opened it's first location in America in my city. I want to try it but I wouldn't know where to start. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just go try it. If you like spicy, you'll probably enjoy it. Tteokbokki leans heavily on gochujang which is a fermented paste made with both Korean hot chili peppers and soy beans. The flavor profile is very unique and can't be duplicated by just throwing in chili powder in a sauce.

The only caveat is the fish cakes included in the dish, which is hit/miss for folks. They have that "ocean flavor" that can be a turnoff. But you can just avoid those if they aren't your thing.

Thanks for the advice. I'm Mexican so spice is life. I've had those rice cakes and kimchi and really liked it.
