Once I installed mine, windows wouldnt boot up... I had to goto the "last setting that worked" option... tried it twice. Anyone know why this might happen and what I can do to fix it?

did you uninstall your cat 4.7s before you installed your beta 4.9s? Did you run driver cleaner before installing the beta 4.9s?


Here, do these two things.

First , download this:

http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/misc/catalystutils.html

Download the Catalyst uninstaller. It removes your current ATI drivers.

Second, download this:

http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/

This is driver cleaner. After you uninstall your ATI drivers, reboot into safe mode and run this program. It'll get rid of any lingering files. Follow the directions on the webpage. Then you reboot back into windows and install the beta 4.9s.

That's why I always wait for the WHQL official drivers and never use beta ones.

Worked fine almost immediately.

My Leadtek TV2000 XP was scrambled for a few minutes, but it cleared up.

Now that I think about it, I didn't even remove 4.7 before installing beta.

I went from beta 4.8s to beta 4.9s without a problem.

EDIT: I never remove the previous drivers..... and I've never had a problem.

Try extracting atioglxx.dll from 4.9 and put it in Windows/System32. It should replace the 4.7 OGL.

But you already downloaded 4.9 based on your first post, just extract the file from the Cat 4.9 setup. The atioglxx.dll file is about 6 MB.
