Anyone here drive a civic type r or a Veloster n?

I’m looking to replace my 06 civic soonish. Waiting for the 21 Ns to come out or for a type r to be available within a reasonable radius (every type r that shows up near me on the Honda inventory website ends up being spoken for when I call the dealer.)
Anywho, I’m interested in impressions from people who’ve driven either car or maybe even both.

I can’t speak for the Civic, but I had a 2012 Veloster and loved every minute in it. In fact, I would still have it now except I needed to trade up to a Tucson due to my family getting larger and placing a child seat in a coupe is not my definition of fun.

Knowing the quality of both Honda and Hyundai, you can’t go wrong with either in longevity. That being said, I’m now partial to Hyundai cars since driving the Veloster.

Get a Type-R all day.
Never drove one though except for the older ep3 which is still really good.
I've tried a 2018 Golf GTI though and it was ok and the new Type-R smokes it at every thing and costs less.

the main thing pushing me towards the N is that it’s like 90% of the performance for much less money (like at least 10k less after accounting for typical markups). The interior of the N sucks in comparison but In theory I could take like 5k, get some interior upgrades installed, and still come out ahead.

Where are you? In USA?
Here in England Type-R hold their value and don't depreciate like a rock..... Like the Hyundai...
A good 4 year old fk2 Type-R is still £20k...
For that reason alone I'd pick Type-R.

I have a 2017 Golf R and I couldn’t recommend it more if you want a fast hatch with a nice interior. It’s roughly in the same range as the two cars mentioned if you’re buying second hand in the US.

If you have to make a choice between the two mentioned I would go with the Honda for the stronger brand following and they tend to be high quality cars. Ex-wife had a first gen Veloster and it wasn’t very good.

I might be getting a car soon and I myself am looking at this very segment of the market. How does the Genesis Coupe compare to the Veloster, other than the fact that the latter replaced the former? Also looking at a BRZ/86/FRS. Anyone who's driven any or all these and how'd each one feel?

Matss got a Type R, nice car. I like its 'boy racer' look personally, its got quite the aggressive stance.

Another mate has a Nissan 370, also a great looking car but woefully impractical. I drove the 370, feels like a Japanese muscle car, just really linear and pulls consistently.

I saw a 370z in black with some minor body mods while I was down in Miami recently and it looked pretty badass. Unfortunately, i have young kids so I do require a modicum of practicality.

So in the end, I put a deposit down on a Type R which should be arriving in a week or so. 21 Veloster N price just came out and is 33-34, so paying an extra 3-4k premium for a car that's better in pretty much every respect makes sense. The veloster n's true appeal was in its bang for the buck performance but they have just overpriced themselves this year.

Not to get into equivalency, but I had a 2014 Focus St Hatch at one time and landed on a motorcycle and a Jeep wrangler a few years later. I did like the ST, but the motorcycle gave me speed and and I love the customizability of a wrangler. I do a lot of my own maintenance now on simpler vehicles with lots of tutorials. Just letting you know if you might ever grown in this direction, otherwise have fun.

Chicks don't respect the hatch, btw.
