how is it? whats new? i guess i should preorder it, since ill probably end up playing the retail anyways

Yes, I'm in it.

I'm having quite a bit of fun. I've not played it before this, so it's pretty new to me (although it apparently takes place in a new area). Most of what I can say would probably be known to you already.

Town is kind of a normal online RPG thing, but once you leave your party gets its own instance. Doing quests and killing enemies is a bit more fun this way, I think. Plus, you're not stuck killing tiny bees and caterpillars... I was fighting some decent enemies nearly right away.

Game looks great too. I'm really impressed by the graphics, the loading time of the client (downloads things as you need them, but it's pretty seamless on broadband) and just how well it runs. I've played computer games with less going on than this that won't even run this smoothly.

Gameplay is pretty standard, I guess... but it's still fun. I haven't played enough to give decent impressions, but I'm happy with my pre-order and am looking forward to the full version. I had more fun with this early on than any online RPG I can think of outside of World of Warcraft, although the quests perhaps aren't as interesting.

Here's some screens. I don't think it looks as good in shots, however, as the game uses these effects that just look really great in motion. Don't seem to capture well.

I dunno... just started it and it just feels EXTREMELY simple. Hack'n slash without any real impact. Also has some really weird gameplay "features"... I was standing next to an altar that healed me while an enemy waited slightly outside. I could just step back and heal, and then return to the battle.

And then I trained about 10 enemies who wouldn't stop chasing me, and I was hacked to pieces.

I got a preorder, but I don't think I'll be buying the game. It's definately pretty, I just don't find it very fun to play and the fact that you have to mouse-click to target is a pain in the butt since it generally happens that enemies get right on top of you so you have to try and click on the right target in this tight group of characters and it's just annoying to do.

After playing the "Free For All" events, this was the first weekend I was back in the beta and I was very impressed. Since the last time I played, they've updated the interface greatly, and the game seems to have a lot more to do now. The quests were simple and straightforward, but the ones I did all pertained to gaining new skills in my profession so I didn't do any of the larger quests at all.

This was the firs time I saw some indoor environments (The Catacombs) and caves, which were really cool. The graphics are stunning in the game. There are a lot of pretty things to look at and I found a lot more to explore this time out as well. There were more creatures running around as well, and plenty of new items too.

I'd agree that the combat is a bit on the simple side, but the skills add a lot to what you can do, and when working with other members of your party you can pull off some nice compinations. All in all, I'd say this is on track to be an excellent online rpg in a few months, and when you consider that it doesn't even have a monthly fee, I suspect it'll be a pretty big hit. I think it's going to replace NeverWinter Nights for my weekly gaming group.
