I'm staying at the Courtyard Marriott over on Spectrum Center Blvd. I'm here till Friday and I have tomorrow off.

From where you are, it's just down the 163. The 163 "dead ends" once you get past the 8 and turns into a surface street that will get you in the vicinity of the Gaslamp District. There are a ton of nice restaurants and nightclubs down there, though I'm not sure about what's going on Wednesday nights. Check out http://entertainment.signonsandiego.com/ to see if they have any event listings at the clubs down there.
If you're looking for strip clubs or THAT kind of entertainment, you're probably out of luck. Most of those places are in Clairemont Mesa...it's funny, I was just having this discussion the other day with my sister, who works in urban planning for the county. From where you are, it would be north on the 163, then west on the 52. After that point, you'd have to start looking for them on the side of the highway...I've never been to any of 'em, so I dunno how to get there, though I've seen them while driving home on many occasions.

UTC (University Town Center) Mall in La Jolla, it's pretty dull there now. Lots of good looking girls, but very snobbish and not a great place to hook up with anyone no matter how well you dress or look. What the hell... picking up girls at malls? Who does that anyway?bjork said:

Tijuana is good, but too much of a hassle. Either long waiting at the border crossings or shitty cops. Also, you need to know your way around too (or bring someone who does) or you're fucked. Getting lost in an unfamiliar city that speaks another language and there are many who'll take advantage of you seems to be common story I hear from "noobs" going to TJ for the first time.
