I have recently decided that I'm not going to pick up an 360 at launch. I was pretty underwhelmed at what they showed at E3. The next system I buy will be ps3, and I don't even know if I will buy that at launch. I see so many good games coming out for current systems this fall that it will be hard to resist them. So I have decided to go bargin bin hunting for cheap games that will last me though next summer at least.

My latest scores last night were Kingdom Under Fire for 16 bucks, SSX3 for 10 and Top Spin for 12. I picked up DOA3 for 10, and Capcom vs. SNK 2 for 12 as well. I recently rediscovered all my old capcom fighters as well for my DC I pulled out of the closet.

The last thing I would want to happen would be to sink money into a console and then have to deal with that dry period waiting for that killer app... similar to PS2 and Metal Gear Solid 2.

Well why can't you sink your money in to a new console and then play it... <gasp> AND your old console(s)?

No. I've cut out all secondary game purchases with the upcoming release of the X360. Only the true cream of the crop for me on current gen now. I'm not going to waste money on extra titles I may or may not play to keep me away from buying a next gen system.

I'm waiting till Gears of War comes out before I buy an X360...from what I've seen at E3, it'll be very easy for me to hold off on many of the launch titles...especially if they are going to ship at a price I don't support

Just like this gen though, most of my gaming will be on games already in my multi-gaming-generation spanning backlog...for God's sake, I still have games dating back to and including Ultima 3 to finish

I could use the break...and besides...I'll prolly be playing the shit out of all the RPGs I never beat....which is every one I own except 3

Yeah, ya know? Some people act like the next gen is going to require them to physically move addresses or something. You buy the box, you hook it up in your entertainment cabinet, you play games on it when you have the time/money. Or you don't buy it at all and keep playing your current gen games. But either way, people gotta stop acting like it's such a weighty, monumentous decision that has to be made. It's a plastic box.

Well, I don't choose to sink my money into a console on day one, unless I absolutely it is a mind blowing jump. I have bought 3 consoles at launch before. PSP, N64 and Dreamcast. I got burned bad on the N64, but was too young to realize it. The DC was a kind of desperate 'make-up' purchase for the lackluster N64. There is so much to play right now on the current gen that I don't see the need to go out and support something on day one and pay 1st adopter price ranges.

I basically need a console to have a combination of games that make me drool to be able to sink money into it. I will no doubt probably buy all 3 next gen consoles at some time.... just not at launch. I didn't buy xbox until it had ninja gaiden and a good library. I didn't buy ps2 until it had metal gear solid 2 on and started getting a good library.

If need for speed: most wanted had been exclusive to xbox 360, that might have made me bite. But heck, the game looks pretty good in the screens for xbox, and I'll probably just get it there...

The current generation is still looking pretty good... I wonder if games that look good in this gen will look like crap halfway through next gen, just like ps1, n64 and even dc games sometimes looked...

Yea I just bought Prince of Persia, Tales of Symphonia, and Wave Race for GC and there's alot more I wanna go back to which should keep me busy going into Next-Gen.

Shit, I haven't bought any new games this YEAR, just so I can catch up on the backlog I have. Then I'll have to catch up on all the games I want that have come out, and all the games that have yet to come out. I sure hope the PSX3 isn't actually launching in the US in the spring, I need more TIME!

I'm still working on a backlog now. I got a shitload of games to get and I'm working on a few right now. Next gen purchases (Revolution), will have to wait for a long time. There's no need to rush into a new console right away. If there is a rare but good title, I may buy it and hold onto it until I get the Revolution.

I agree, its not a big decision. However, there's no need to rush into it right away if your play time is going elsewhere. Thats a waste of money when 12-18 months from then, it'll be at or over $50 cheaper, enough to almost get a premium priced title.

No, since it has the stinch of fanboyism around it. I'm finishing up mine now. RE4, MGS3, God Of War. Now, if I could just lay off of Halo 2 on XBL. I'm getting Okami, Killer 7, Zelda, and BF 2, that is it for this gen.
