Anyone like a game alot, but have no interest in the sequel?

Realy weird, I realy liked Metroid Prime, but have no desire to play the sequel, even though its supposed to be really good. Anyone else have games like this? I don't understand why, maybe I just don't wanna go through the hassling parts over again (respawned enemies, extreme backtracking).

Me and KOTOR2. I know I'll pick it up once it's cheap, but with Jade Empire down the line, I don't particularly care about it.

I was this way with KOTOR. I really liked the first game, I just don't want to go through it again.

edit: :lol - funny that me and 6.8 had the EXACT same reaction.

same here. Also I keep hearing about the bugs in the pc version (crashing to desktop, slowdowns etc)

Yeah that's the way I feel. I mean I liked the game and all, but part of it was its just a task to get through. I don't wanna go through it all again. Some games though I could play about 5,000 sequels of (Legend of Zelda, Grand Theft Auto for example).

Wish it had been for KOTOR 2, because I wasted my money.

Metroid Prime I played and loved, but I think I had my fill after that one was done.

heh, I went through the same thing with metroid prime. But since my brother bought echoes, I just ended up playing it. At least it was worth playing, it's pretty damn good, and a lot of things were different in it.

This happened to me with GTA>GTA:VC...actually I was pretty amped to get it, and almost did, but that situation fell through. I dunno, something about it, even though I LOVE 80s music, just doesn't draw me in. But if I ever get an XBOX, i'm definitely getting the GTA double pack.

Metroid Prime is probably the most enjoyable game I've ever played (although RE4 is close), but I just really couldn't get psyched about Echoes. I'm going to buy it one of these days, I swear...

Pikmin 2. Don't know exactly why though... I think I would have preferred this experience to remain unique...

Pikmin 2 is either the best Gamecube game, or it's in the top 3, depending on the person you ask. Trust me. You MUST play it.

Metroid Prime for me as well.

Though I did end up playing it a few weeks ago. Really liked it, and as soon as I buy my new PC Ill pick it up(dont want to spend any cash on gaming until I complete my PC purchase)

I thought of KOTOR as well. Which is interesting, because the 2nd one is already at half of the sales of the first after 2 months.

I've felt this way for a long time. I rarely have any interest in sequels of any kind. And when I do play sequels they never live up to my expectations. For instance, I had no interest in playing MGS2 even though I loved the first game. And Halo 2 is disappointing to me compared to the original. I don't stay away from sequels on purpose, but I don't have the urge to play them even if I loved the original.

Sands of Time and Warrior Within

Funny enough, I liked the original Prince but never really got interested in Prince 2 and 3D (even though I hear 2 is quite good)

I heard PoP 2 is a mess full of glitches that can screw you pretty bad. Not able to proceed and stuff.

I disagree. The uniqueness of Pikmin 1 was what made it so great. Ive yet to finish Pikmin 2, but I have no interest in doing so because now that the freshness of the concept has worn off I see no fun in the game. I have several other major complaints(dungeons, lack of time limit, etc.) against Pikmin 2 as well, but thats my biggest beef.

"No interest" is too strong a term, but there have been series where I'd rather replay the original/earlier game until I'm actually ready for the sequel on my timeframe, not the publisher's.

KOTOR1 and DMC1 are two prime examples of games I'd rather replay right now than move to the latest sequel.

Splinter Cell also gets my vote. First one was great, but yeah it ended there for me. I wasn't as hyped for MP2, but I still bought it.

I played it and didn't think much of it. So far, I think it's just me, but I was just left bored with the concept (didn't play the first one btw).

*flees from the angry mob*

KOTOR ... Hell I almost wish the sequel didn't exist, I just feel guilty for not trying it.

I'm happy ICO doesn't have a true sequel to it, it just needed to remain as its own.

On the other hand, I love Pikmin 2 and wish now that the first never existed.

Yeah, same here. As slick as Echoes looks, I just can't bring myself to pick it up.

Same exact thing happened with Sonic Adventure (SA2), Metal Gear Solid (MGS2: Sons of Liberty) and Jak & Daxter (Jak 2).

I see what you're saying. Pikmin worked well as a "one shot" game. I think you'll really enjoy Pikmin 2, though; it's as close to a perfect sequel as you can get. The two-character mechanic works very well, the new Pikmin give you more freedom in choosing how to solve some puzzles, and the multiplayer is very fun in its own right.

Has anyone here who played Champions of Norrath gone and played Champions: Return to Arms? Aside from a few people, I haven't heard ANYONE talking about about it.

You're not the first person to tell me that so I might give it a try, hopefully my negative prejudices won't make the experience unenjoyable. But, oh well... who cares of my life after all -_-.

Oh, and I forgot Fire Emblem. Played the first episode launched on GBA, really enjoyed it, but quite unseduced by the apparent redundancy of its followers...

EDIT : I have to sign up on the Deus Ex list too.

Oh yeah... my answer to the original question is Viewtiful Joe. The gameplay was already getting "samey" late in the game. Still really fun overall, though.

I loved loved loved Devil May Cry, but for some reason when DMC2 was announced and then the screenshots came, I couldn't give two shits about it. And then once it came out everybody ended up hating on the game massively so I guess it was for the best. Now with DMC3 I'm interested, but I think I may wait till it goes on the cheap.

Also, I used to be super stoked for any new Zelda game, but after finishing Wind Waker, I think I'm through with that series. I just can't seem to get excited about the new Zelda...just doesn't do anything for me anymore.

KOTOR+1 for me too. I guess the whole buggy part of KOTOR1 which didn't allow me to see the ending just ruined whole experience for me... :(

Holy shit, so it's not just me?!?

I swear, every time I pipe up in a thread where somebody's asking if Pikmin 2 is any good with those same complaints, it's usually followed with lots of posts along the lines of "you're absolutely nuts", or similar.

The above ground stuff is actually pretty neat, but I have the exact same problems with the game you do. The lack of an overall time limit removes pretty much all the challenge, and instead of spending all your time in the beautiful, lush overworlds you're wandering around in the drab, dull caves.

Now, if I can find another soul on the planet who agrees that F-Zero GX is the cheapest mess of a game ever I won't feel quite as "off"...

As far as the topic goes, I've gotta say that, for some reason, MP2:E and VJ2 hold no interest for me. I really enjoyed the originals of both titles, but I think it's really a case of the original games having the perfect amount of content, and I don't want to start a whole other game along similar lines.

Metroid Prime 2 here as well. I saw it for $30 Canadian (used but I don't care much about that) and I didn't grab it. I'll get it May!! I SWEAR!

My wife, friends, and I are playing through RTA right now. It's more of the same, but we enjoy it, so no foul. There were people complaining about the dreaded "stealth levels" but these are so laughably easy that they are not a problem at all. It's not 1/100th as annoying or out of place as the stealth levels in Wind Waker, for example.

Loved Metroid Prime, passed on the sequel. Same with KOTOR. In both cases the sequel didn't appear to offer anything new.

And I avoided Prince of Persia 2 because of the stupid OMG GODSMACK HARDCORE bullshit.
