Anyone tinted their full windshield before?

I've read about it recently, and when I went to get my car tinted today, I decided to give it a shot. The guy quoted me one price for the car, so I asked if he could tint the whole front windshield. I'd heard of people doing 75-85% tint on the windshield, which is pretty hard to see I'm sure. Well, the lightest they had lying around was 20%. I had the other two windows done 5%, and the windshield done the 20%. Man, it's fucking dark. It was night when I left the tint place, and for all my 20/20 vision, it was simply too dark. I don't feel comfortable with it like it is now. I can see, but not as well as I'd like. So tomorrow I'm gonna take it in and have the guy remove the front windshield tint. But has anyone else had theirs tinted and survived to tell the story? I'd like to know if I should eventually try and get it tinted 75% somewhere else. That seems like it would be easy to see at night compared to 20%. The way it is right now is kind of ridiculous, and the tint guy did warn me that it was illegal. But I had to give it a shot. Someone tell me it's doable.

Oh, and if anyone wonders why I'd even want to do something like this, I live in Miami, and the car gets hot as hell sitting in the sun all day. I'd also be able to ditch the visors, which are a nuisance with the soft top. PEACE.

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
I thought front windshield tint was illegal across all the US except for the space above where the rear view mirror latches on? I know different states have different percentages for the side windows but I thought everybody have the same rules for the front.

It's illegal to have any kind of tint below the AS-1 line on the windshield in Florida.

Also, it's a very, very, VERY bad idea.

Serious IMO, it gives cops an excuse to f*ck with you...

WTF? You tinted your ennnnnnnntire windshield? LOL. I've always thought about that (like just daydreamed about the idea) but I never took it into serious consideration. LOLOLOL. I'd like to just see what it's like, I know it's gotta be dark as hell. I just have to wonder what was you thinking at the time?? LOL. Sorry man, but that's some funny ass sh1t.

Take pics. Please.

I'm kinda agreeing on both fronts. :lol I figured it was illegal, although the 75-85% tint I'd still do. It's light enough it could almost pass for stock. But this 20% is a cop magnet, and too dark to be good at night. I can admit a mistake, and this was one. But I was really hoping someone else had tried the same thing with success. Meh. I just hope they don't charge me more than like $20 to remove it. Otherwise, I'll just take a blade to it myself. I'll see if he can leave a "brow" on there when he removes it, but the 20% has to go. PEACE.

It shows you can't trust everything you read on the internet. Some guy on the Spyder forum I frequent did it to his car, just not this dark. Seemed like a good idea....seemed like it.... Man, I'm so gonna get the "I told you so" when I go back there tomorrow. I am cry. :( PEACE.

Actually not as bad as you'd probably think when you hear 20% tint, but it's obviously a drop from normal. I'm glad it's not forcast to rain tomorrow. *sigh* today went well otherwise. The guy did a top notch job, and I also managed to walk across to the tag agency to order my pesonalized PIMPWRX plates. :D :D :D With the DMV backlog, I can probably expect that to be a nice birthday gift...in May. Oh well, live and learn. PEACE.

Excluding the legalities of it all... Why would you tint your windshield darker than your side windows? That must look fucking odd.

I'd do it on a trailer queen that I only expected to show and seldom drive, only if the car itself was also black...

Got it removed after work today. Took like 2 minutes, just peeled it off. The guy said the reason he did it for me was b/c he did it to his car too. He has two layers of 5% all around, and one layer of 15% on the windshield. that's even darker than what I had on. He says you just gotta get use to it. Since he's working with 5% tint almost all day, I guess it works for him. And he says he's gonna replace the two layer 5% with opaque limo tint. :lol He said I should stop by next week b/c he's ordering some 35%. He thinks I could pull that off, but I don't think so. I'm still gonna try for 75-85% somewhere else, but for now, I like being able to see where I'm going. :D PEACE.

I've heard stories where officers would take keys and scrape the sh1t outta your tint if it was mirror tint, or too dark. Damn police.

WTF???????

You cannot have anything more than what is already on your windsheild (some cars have the top 4-6" pre-tinted from the factory). You will get into an accident and get crazy tickets.
